Compare and contrast your way of life with that of your parents.

Which way of life do you

think would be more satisfying to future generations?

Initially, when we speak about different generations we can almost imagine our parent's life,
maybe in the 70s or 80s; there is definitely a contrast between my life and the life of my
parents. In the next few paragraphs, I will explain how different my parent’s generation is from
my generation. I will compare, contrast, and give examples to expand the context.

When we want to compare different generations’ one thing that can pop out in our minds is
music, because every generation had its own artists, genres, and superstars. For example, in
my parent’s time, the era of rock music and metal music was at its peak internationally, so
eventually, my father became a metalhead, on the contrary, my mother used to love pop
Spanish groups like Timbiriche and other artists like Luis Miguel when in Latin America boy
bands and girl bands first started to appear. Now, in my generation, we have many different
genres, from the most popular to the most experimental music. I can say that nowadays the
most influential music genre internationally is rap, hip hop, and trap music, and for Latin
America is reggeton that has had the crown for several years. Music can impact someone's life
and also define their way of living.

Another example would be that social media didn’t exist at that time, so they didn’t have the
same information, and as fast as we have it today. Social media has changed our way of living
in these past few generations, we can now connect with more people, we have more tools to
understand many things, but at the same time, we are lacking social interaction, getting more
absorbed into seeing on our screens to see what is happening in the world, instead of what is
happening right here, right now. Most of our parents in their youth didn’t have internet, or at
least it wasn’t so common to use it.

In my opinion, every generation and every era had its perks and also its disadvantages,
therefore, to say that which way of living is better for future generations is obsolete, because,
every generation will live with their uniqueness and their troubles and advantages. Maybe the
next generations will have an easier way of living but the lack of social response and
interaction will be lost, we can only imagine. So in conclusion, every generation had their own
time to survive and get the best of it, maybe the worst of it, but that is why remembering
those times can be melancholic. We cannot change the past either the future, so we can only
hope and wait for a better future for the next generations.
