Clarence Thomas: Misunderstood Supreme Court Justice
Have you ever wondered about the lives of some Supreme Court Justices? Some
people had hard childhoods and some were/were misunderstood. Clearance Thomas is a
case of both. Clarence Thomas lived a rough childhood but eventually he became a
Supreme Court Justice.
Clarence Thomas was born on June 23, 1948, in Pin Point Georgia. Which was a
swampy area with lots of trees and calms. His mother was Leola Anderson and his
Father was M.C. Thomas. His brother Myers was his sibling that spent most time with.
When Clarence Thomas was still a toddler his father left his family . When he was 6
years old his old house/shack burnt down. He had quite a rough childhood but it shaped
him to be a better man.
When Clarence Thomas first went to live with his grandpa when his mother
could not afford to take care of his brother Myers and Clarence. When he was with his
grandpa he made Clearance and his brother “farm hands”. He also taught them many life
lessons such as not to stare at a white woman for white men would be furious. In the 50s
and 60s he saw a good deal of the Ku Klux Klan. Which were white people who
embraced segregation and killing blacks. Thomas married Virginia Lamp in 1987 and
she is the spouse that he had his son Jamal with. His life was getting better but still he had
some rough points.
Clarence Thomas was admitted to the Missouri Bar in
1974. Clarence Thomas was named Chairman of the United States Equal Employment
Opportunity Commission in 1982 and he remained in that position until 1990. Clearance
Thomas’s name became well known in July 1 1991. When George H.W. Bush

the peak point of his life he today is still a member of the Supreme Court.
Clarence Thomas still has troubles in his life today such as the media saying that
he is secretive and mysterious. But he is really a misunderstood man. Clearance Thomas
is a good example that even if you have a rough start you can have a good life overall.
