THE ORIGIN OF THE COMMON LOW DURING KING HENRY II'S REIGN.

It did not exist in the national legal system prior to the Norman conquest of England in 1066.
Prior to 1066, the English legal system allowed for a large number of oral customary rules that differed by area.
King Henry II introduced the Common Law in 1154, establishing a common unifield system, removing
discretionary remedies, and restoring the jury system.
