Pipe Builder™
Pipe Builder™ allows the engineer to
input design requirements such as

application. Pipe Builder™ provides the
User with a "Best Pipe" or "All Pipes" Step 1
solution. Upon obtaining the solution
best suited for the engineer’s applica-
tion, the specifications for the pipe

premium connections can be viewed

THE ENGINEERING TOOL KIT™
Specs Direct™
Specs Direct™ permits the User to select
any API pipe grade or proprietary high
performance grades like those offered by
TCA and print out data sheets depicting
the product performance properties
and dimensions. For Atlas Bradford end
finishes, data on blanking dimensions
can also be obtained. This tool can be
used just like a catalog but in addition
gives the User the added flexibility of
printing out the query for documentation
for future reference.
The Equation Bank™

The Equation Bank™ is a key resource
for engineers that enables them to
perform calculations related to pipe
performance. This interactive web
application, using Web Mathmatica, is
a powerful tool that enables the User to
perform calculations related to tubular
goods. The application permits the
User to enter all but one variable of the
equation and the missing variable is
calculated. The vast majority of the
equations detailed in API 5C3 - 6th
Edition – Bulletin on Formulas and
Calculations for Casing, Tubing, Drill
Pipe and Line Pipe Properties are
available for interactive use.
Converter
Converter is an interactive application that
facilitates unit conversions. Units of force,
length, area, flow, pressure, density, volume,
torque and others are easily converted from
either english or metric units.
Glossary of Terms
Hundreds of terms and their definitions are
available to improve ones understanding of pipe
related manufacturing and operational issues.

Continuous cast steel making

Green Tubes
• Green tubes are manufactured to our proprietary
specifications, including enhanced chemistries,
assuring compatibility with our Q&T process.
• Select mills produce billets for pipe making using
the latest ladle metallurgy and continuous cast
steel making procedures.
• Billets are typically rotary pierced, producing
green tubes with greater dimensional control.
Austenitizing and Tempering

• Modern computer controlled, walking-beam
furnaces assure that advanced metallurgical
properties are achieved.
• The gas-fired, multi-zoned process results in
homogenous heating and precise soaking of
the tubulars.

Quenching
• The unique simultaneous OD/ID quench process ensures complete
through wall martensitic transformation and results in superior
metallurgical properties and optimum “as quenched” straightness.
• The computer-monitored quench process features a high pressure
descaler and 12,000 gallon per minute quenching capacity.
• Enables processing of heavy wall casing and coupling stock.
• Certain products may be OD quenched only.

• Sizing and straightening of high performance
products are accomplished at elevated

EMI Inspection
• The state-of-the-art electromagnetic pipe imaging
inspection unit provides more precise flaw detection
than traditional EMI, detects imperfections at multiple
angles, and differentiates multiple flaws on the
same circumference.
• Minimum wall thickness is assured by 100%
UT coverage.
• Inspection certification is provided for each order
with mill test report.
• A Level 3 technician supervises certified Level 2
operators and prove-up technicians.
UT Inspection
• An independent third-party inspection eliminates the
need for the operator to make redundant inspections.
• Full length ultrasonic inspection has a high pulse
repetition rate and capability to detect longitudinal,
transverse, and selected oblique flaws.
• The computer-controlled data acquisition system
provides data storage and retrieval.
• Inspection certification is provided for each order
with mill test report.
• An ASNT Level 3 technician certifies Level 2 operators
and prove-up technicians.
