GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Origination Manager is part of Ocean Winds (OW) Origination team whose role is to lead early- stage business
development activities; especially in countries in which OW does not have any local organization yet.
The Origination Manager will scout and coordinate offshore wind business development opportunities (greenfield
projects, M&A, partnerships) in pre-agreed geographies, according to the instructions of the Origination Director.
This role requires thoughtful coordination and cooperation with other OW teams and external third parties.
MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES
• Support the Origination Director in framing, implementing and monitoring OW origination efforts.
• Support the Origination Director in structuring the Origination Department (guiding principles, processes, tools,
HR...).
• Lead specific Origination efforts and manage the associated team members if any:
o Perform country / region / market assessment;
o Perform site identification analysis;
o Engage with local stakeholders;
o Seek potential partners and/or projects;
o Lead potential negotiations and transactions;
o Perform and coordinate early-stage development works linked to Meteocean & EYA, stakeholders
management, Permitting & EIA, etc.;
o Start setting-up a local project team if a project gets traction.
• Ensure efficient working relationships and close coordination with the relevant OW Departments.
• Prepare and support OW management decision-making.
• Communicate information continuously and effectively to management and cross-functional
teams.
• Additional duties as needed, as this function requires flexibility and proactiveness.
ACADEMIC BACKGROUND
LANGUAGES
• Ability to read, write and speak English fluently.
• A very good command of Spanish and/or French would be highly appreciated.
• Other languages are a plus.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
• More than 5 years of working experience, with a significant part in business development.
• Background in the renewable energy industry.
• Offshore wind would be highly appreciated.
KNOWLEDGE
• Project Management.
• Strategic Analysis.
• Negotiation.
• IT Tools: Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
• Financial culture is a plus.
BEHAVIORAL SKILLS
• Ability to be proactive, self-motivated and perform job tasks in a relatively unstructured environment with little
supervision.
• Ability to multi-task and to work in project mode.
• Ability to quickly understand the basics of a variety of subjects related to greenfield, project management and
offshore wind, always with a problem-solving approach and with high attention to detail.
• Well-organized and structured thinking, capacity to manage high workloads with tight deadlines in different projects.
• Strong interpersonal skills. Diplomatic and easy-going.
• Ability to properly communicate with many different stakeholders, both written and oral.
• Ability to travel extensively and work overtime as needed.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
• The position will be opened in Madrid in OW’s corporate office.
• The candidate should expect to travel frequently to different international
locations (Europe, South America and/or
Asia) depending on his projects.
