TINBAD Blurb LIVE
TINBAD Blurb LIVE
In far off Bagdad, Sinbad the Sailor the famous and valiant, has a timid brother Tinbad, who was a
tailor and now wants to be a HERO. He wants an adventure, stows away on his brother’s ship and
joins the travels far and wide: visiting the Island of the Sirens, meeting and defeating the wicked Old
Man of the Sea, and have a bit of a problem with MONKEYS! In the city they meet noisy Ali Barber, in
the air an irritating flying carpet, and lost in the sands is a magical burrowing Beetle…
The story of Sinbad The Sailor is originally from the Middle East, and these fantastical adventures
through exotic locations are included in later versions of the ‘One Thousand and One Nights’. With
High Seas, and Low comedy, can fair winds blow Tinbad to fame and fortune, or will a perfect storm
shipwreck all his dreams?
‘Tinbad the Tailor’ features a collection of short stories from the oral tradition of Scheherazade, a
‘portmanteau’ if you will. With music, masks and puppet figures influenced by Bagdad street puppet
shows and Lebanese folk art, this exciting new signed story-version of these classic fables will
explore the concept of the theatre artist as the magician who effects transformation through
imaginative play and empathic engagement with the audiences.
This Sign Language Arts work is created specifically for a target age group of 3-7 years old and their
families. This show lasts 55 minutes.
The audiences that family theatre practitioners are creating for are changing and challenging, and
Krazy Kat are very much part of the vanguard of new ways to facilitate interaction and encourage
enjoyment of live, interactive theatrical stories.
"A vehicle for visual fun and games. Unusual, exciting and ever innovative."
