Calculation Parameters
Variables Include
• Species factor (k s) – water needed by plant species
• Density factor (k d) – number of plant species in landscape area
• Microclimate factor (k mc) – temperature, wind, and humidity
• Landscape coefficient (K L) – volume of water lost (k s X k d X k
mc)
• Evapotranspiration rate (ET) – amount of water lost from a
vegetated surface in units of water depth
• Irrigation efficiency –percent of water actually makes it to the
plants
• Calculations are performed for the month of July(peak summer
in US)
