Question: Write a cost estimate for the production of a book with the
following specifications.
1). Size- A5
2). Number of pages- 166.
3). 24 pages should be coloured.
4). 142 should be black and white.
5). Cover page- produced with 300gsm art card, prints only on the outside
cover.
6). Inner pages- art paper 115 gsm.
7). Lamination of cover page- Matt lamination.
8). Binding- perfect binding.
9). Quantity- 1000 books.

ANSWER
1). Quantity of paper to be used
16 A5=1 A1
166/16=10.375=11 sheets of A1
11 sheets=1 book
1 ream=500 sheets
For 1000 books=11 A1 x 1000
=11,000 A1
11,000/500=22 reams
Quantity of paper to be used for inner=22 reams
Price per ream of art paper=N37,000

= N814,000

2). For cover page

Art card
1 A1=16 A5
=8 fronts and back cover (8 books)
1 ream of art card=100 sheets
For 1,000 books
1000/8= number of art card to be used
