Resolution
For a containerized generator set application the air intake restriction measurement must be taken
after the engine air filter, between the engine air filter and turbocharger. This measurement must
be taken relative to the ambient air conditions where the engine air filter is drawing the engine's air
supply. This is typically outside the containerized unit. Use the appropriate fault code
troubleshooting or troubleshooting symptom tree to confirm and troubleshoot the corresponding

fault codes or symptoms. If troubleshooting directs measurement of air intake restriction, measure
the air intake restriction relative to the ambient air conditions where the engine air filter is drawing
the engine's air supply.
For maximum allowable intake restriction specifications. See procedure 018-019 in Section V of
the corresponding service manual.
For containerized generator set applications, if indicated by an excessive air intake restriction
measurement value, replace the engine air filter. In addition, replace the container air filter (if
equipped) if the container air filter directly affects the air intake restriction.
The corresponding service manuals will be updated.
