Ans1:
The ethical dilemma which I faced in my personal life, was during my schooldays when I faced
harassment i.e. ragging by my fellow classmates, as I was a fresher then in the mid of annual year.
The teachers after knowing, did not help me, rather let me face it.

Situation:

 I was not given the entry to enter my classroom.

 I was not allowed to sit wherever I want or as per schedule, but at the back where no one
sits as the place was full of mosquitos.
 Upon going out during break, they used to displace my bag to another classroom.
 Did not help me in collecting, noting or comprehending the syllabus already I missed.
 My notebooks used to stay littered on various desks of the classroom

Employee rights

Right to safe and clean environment: I was not given to sit in clean and my favorable places for
months. Everyone used to push me back to the unwanted desks of the classroom. The place used to
be very gloomy being the most last and never used desks. Hygiene factor was missing, which the
teachers knowing did not act on it.

Right to privacy: My notebooks used to stay littered on numerous desks of the classroom, without
my knowledge. My bag used to get hijacked without my knowledge. My right to privacy was
hampered there.

Right to organize and complain: Upon complaining to the teachers they used to laugh on me and on
the back my fellow classmates would torture or harass me for complaining. The class teacher would
refrain me from going to the principal as her reputation may come at stake then.

Solutions:

 I tried to face it fearlessly instead of running back home. I seek out for help to other faculty
members present, but the response was very few or can say negligible. Few who responded
for my help was not much interested to spend extra time to help me out but just suggested
common solutions which I already tried.
 I tried to convey my problems to my parents if they can help me but they did not trust me
and for just my sake suggested the same common solutions which any other person was
suggesting me.
 I was left with two options either to face it or leave the school.
 Then I took the courage to go against my class teacher and seek help from the head of the
oraganisation the principal.
 Fortunately, he was the final and the only one to listen to me and help me patiently. He took
certain strict steps against the teacher and the students. All were punished heavily.

Recommendations:

 In such kind of situation, one should face it and not take the decision of running away at
once.
 Use the organization’s resources to solve the problem
 Use any other alternative solutions available
 Yet if nothing works and no resources available, then leave the organization and try for any
other organization.
 Try to do self-analysis if you have any gaps in you which is triggering the situation.

I would give myself 10/10.

As I believe I did a great hard work to live it for months, identify the solutions and face it.

Ans-2
The ethical dilemma which I faced in my professional life, was with working in teams for projects.

Situation:

We were given to work in teams for competition of projects with certain deadlines. No leader was
chosen by the authority concerned unfortunately. Therefore, the group members used to stay
relaxed and chill and upon approaching to start working on the given projects they used to deny
starting so early. Anyway, due to biasedness and popularity a leader was indirectly chosen in the
team. Like any other leader, the one divides the work among the group members but do not accept
their work and implements own. Also, do not go by the organization’s rule of not copying project
ideas from secondary sources.

Ethical Leadership

 Ethical leader has strong personal character: The team leader was missing this quality.
 Ethical leader has the passion to do right: The leader just simply went against the rule of the
organization and took some forged ideas.
 Ethical leaders consider stakeholder’s interest: The leader did not accept our works and
ideas, rather went by some secondary source ideas.
 Ethical leaders are role models for the organization’s values: Unfortunately. our leader
lacked this quality too.
A leader should always lead the team towards ethical working activities and consider their interests.
But the leader of the team I was working was totally opposite of the ethical leader qualities. This
hampered the motivation of the team members to work ethically and give their best. Hence,
decreasing the work satisfaction level of the members for not considering their interests or work.

Recommendations:

 Try to complain it to the upper management

 Try to influence the leader by making him realize his own mistakes
 Motivate the other members of not following any order of unethical kind of the leader
 Can bring everyone together and talk with the leader to change his styles of leading and go
ethically.
 Do not support the leader in his unethical activities
 Ask for the change of leadership to the upper management.

I would give myself 8/10.

To improve my score I believe, I should have gone to implement the solutions rather then just
thinking of if doing such will let me drop out as an odd member of the group or organization.
Though, I tried motivating the leader to go ethically, yet it did not work. Hence, I would rate myself
to improve on it and go by the solution to ensure the ethical values of the organization are followed.
