Aspiration Prayer

In this unsurpassable and sublime mandala of the innermost secret,

Led by the vajra master,
When the vajra brothers and sisters who maintain the bloodline of victorious ones are following
the path to enlightenment,
May we not fall into the great abyss of samsara,
Nor fall into the stygian darkness of nonrecognition of intrinsic awareness,
Nor be reborn in narrow, rocky defiles.
May we not fall into the cauldrons of hell;
May wild beasts not sound their ferocious cries;
And may the sharp, cruel points of weapons not find their mark.
In this life and all successive lifetimes,
Through the one-pointed meditative absorption of being inseparably in one another’s company,
May the exceedingly kind spiritual mentor,
The authentic consort of knowledge connected to us by karma,
And the vajra brothers and sisters who share a common samaya
Traverse the ten levels of realization in succession and awaken to Buddhahood.

The vajra brothers and sisters cross their arms and link their ring fingers; alternatively, they
hold white scarves or malas that are tied together in a continuous chain. Everyone holds a lamp
and stick of incense.
