What is meant by the word of Quran?

The word Quran is derived from the word “Qaraa” which means “To recite”. To recite again and again.

In how many categories we can divide Quranic teachings with reference to subject?

Answer: Topic of Quran with reference to Subject:

With reference to subject Quranic teachings can be divided into four classes:

1. Believes:

The Quran talks about basic beliefs of Islam such as Islamic injuctions/restrictions about idol
worshippers, Christians, Jews etc. For Example Quran says:

“ O Prophet! Fight against the Pagans and Hypocrites”

2. Commandments:

The Quran gives commandments about the right of Allah as well asright of people. For example
Quran explains commandments about prayer, fasting, hajj, zakat. Similarly Quran gives
commandments about trade, education, economy, will, morality, inheritance, economy etc.
Quran also declares its commandments in clear words about Nikkah, Talaq and Jihad etc.
3. Incidents:

The Quran talks about two incidents: Incidents of past and Incidents of future. For example
Incidents about Hazrat Adam(A.S), Hazrat Nooh(A.S), Hazrat Younus(A.S), Hazrat Ismail(A,S),
Hazrat Moosa (A.S) Malika Saba belongs to the past. Whereas future incidents are relaing
Doom’s day, hell and paradise.

4. Examples:

The Holy Quran gives examples to facilitate the learning process. The Quran compares human
beings and human acts with that of nature.

What is the difference between style of Makki Surah and Madni Surah?

Makki Surahs:

1) The Makki Surahs generally consists of subjects related to Tawheed, Prophethood, Day of
judgement and words of comfort for the Prophet (PBUH)by narrating incidents from the past.
2) In Makki Surahs most of the confrontation is against idolaters.
3) The style of Makki surahs is more Majestic. It has a profusion of metaphors, similies and the
vocabulary used in extensive.
4) The ayat of Madni Surah are generally short and brief.

Madni Surahs:

1) Madni Surahs are generally consist of subjects related to family and social Laws, injuctions of
Jihad and exposition of limits and duties.
2) Madni surahs are against the People of Book and hypocrite.
3) The style of Madni Surah is comparitvely simple as it is more lengthy and detailed.
4) The ayat of Madni Surahs are generally long and detailed.

Briefly discuss the age of ignorance.

In Islam age of ignorance refers to that period of time in state of Arab before the advent of Islam. It is
called age of ignorance because there is no religion islam no one knows about Allah. People of arab
worship stones and their gods. It is also known as the era of “Jahalat”.

What is Harb-ul-Fijar?

One of the biggest wars happened between two important tribes Hawazin and Kinana, is famously
known asFijar. This war happened when the Prophet Muhammad was about 15. The Holy Prophet never
took part in that war directly, but sometimes he presented in the battle field.
