The Performance Training Appraisal Training Program

As we all know that, performance appraisal training program helps in achieving organizational goals
and strategies. Conducting this program by the supervisors in this case study bought some
unexpected results for them. According to me, if we consider KOLB’s and Fleming learning styles in
this case study then Assimilating and Accommodating elements of KOLB’s learning are related to
visual and Kinesthetic elements of Fleming’s learning style. This is so because the trainees in this
case study were asked to participate after watching and learning things taught in the lecture
followed by participating in a role-play conducted by the performance management.

This was an effective way of conducting the performance of nurse supervisors in hospital and
evaluating the same. However, if employees took their responsibility of participating in the role play,
then they would have not faced any complications even after one year where the hospital was still
witnessing inconsistency and unsatisfactory performance of nurse supervisors.

Moving further,

There are several factor affecting learning and retention including job attitude, cognitive ability, self-
efficacy, training motivation, personality characteristics and goal orientation. But do they really lead
effective training and development? Here, I would like to say that it helps to improve the individual
behavior and performances which indirectly improve the organizational effectiveness.

However, considering this case study, these factors were not accomplished due to non-negligence of
nurse supervisors. Making fun of activities like role play was the biggest mistake which might have
taught them a lesson of life with improvement in their overall performances. Even, most of the
trainees showed their lack interest for personal interviews.

So, all in all, I would here say that the non-participating behavior of employees cost the hospital
heavily where inconsistency among the employees still prevailed even after conducting a
performance appraisal training program.
