0 DISCUSSION

Based on the data obtained for table 6.1 and table 6.2, as long as the control valve is open
partly for each reading in manometer, the time taken for the water (desired volume) to fill the
tank is getting diminished and Reynolds Number were increasing. Head loss, h f and head loss, H
are also increased but start to decrease in round two and a half and so on. For table 6.3 and table
6.4, the time taken for the water (desired volume) to fill the tank is also getting diminished, head
loss, H and Reynolds Number were increasing as the control valve is open partly for each
reading in manometer. Head loss, h f increased but start to decrease in round two and a half and
so on.

The Reynolds number increased for a fluid because of a higher flow rate as the friction
factor decreases. A low Reynolds Number also meant that either the fluid velocity was too low
or the fluid viscosity was too high.

From what we can observed, there were some errors during the experiment. The sources
of errors are reaction time and human error when recording time, bubbles in the water and being
unable to shut the valve tightly to prevent leakage. Parallax error also occurs when measuring
and recording the volume and recording the volume of water in the tank.
