CONSTRUCTION METHODOLOGY

FOUNDATION

Excavation:
1. After getting respective permits, area shall be surveyed and marked as per drawing
with chalk line keeping working space all around.
2. Any interfering underground lines will be marked on floor.
3. Warning tape and warning signs will be installed to isolate the area.
4. Excavation will be done using hand tools.
5. Excavated area will be barricaded by scaffolding pipes.
6. Excavated soil will be loaded on truck with the help of bobcat and disposed to the
designated area.
7. Excavation will be compacted and compaction test will be done.

Backfilling and Compaction:

1. After completion of the compaction under foundation, backfilling shall commence
using similar excavated material. Care shall be taken to remove bolder, vegetation
and other deleterious materials.
2. Prior to the backfilling, the compacted surface shall be accepted by the engineer.
3. Backfill thickness shall not be greater than 300 mm.
4. Backfill will be executed in layers and the thickness of the layer is subject to the
backfilling depth.
5. The sub-grade once approved, the excavated materials approved by the engineer
shall be placed in layers followed by compaction test when surface level is ready.
6. Compaction test shall be performed at the rate indicated in the specification.
7. Backfilling followed with compaction shall continue until final level is achieved.
