1. Cite a person who has influenced your character and explain why?

My biggest influencer of who I am are my parents, well obviously because most of the
time of my life I am with them - in the house, or even those moments I am not physically with
them their presence is still with me. Their values, opinions, beliefs, and teachings are all part of
what impacted my characteristics. As my parents they’re the one who taught me how to socialize
with others, how to give respect, why we should always be grateful, having the attitude of giving
and other good characters a person should have. Their religion became my religion, their status in
life became mines too. Basically, they shaped my characteristics, it all started on them. Every
time I am making decisions, I always consider their teachings on me, my actions are based on
what would be their reactions – would they get mad? Or would they be proud?
My father is the reason why I love dogs, I choose accountancy because of my mother.
Even my faulty attitude I could say they are part of it my relationship to them affects my
behaviors and sometimes I also imitate them, but I know how much I adore them and how I
wanted please them I am aware that I have my own traits and that I should mold my own not
because this is what they want and want me to be, though I am thankful this is me because of my
parents and one character that I love which I have on their influence is generosity.

2. Cite a cultural belief that you find in your community and make a reflection paper on its meaning,
its influence on your behavior and the behavior of other people in your community and whether
you endorse or not to other communities. (300-400 words)

Cultural beliefs are beliefs that are imposed or shared to a particular group or community
such as traditions, religion, social standard, customs, or behavioral patterns, these are passed
down generation to generation and valued to some. These practices are socially acquired based on
environment we lived in.
As a Kapampangan we have different cultural beliefs and I think one of the most
influential in my life is the practice we have every Christmas period the giant lantern season
where magnificent row of lights is seen on some part of the city, it is actually a Filipino tradition
which I love because it signifies hope and light which for me this is a great way of celebration
every last month of the year besides the religious way of celebrating the birth of Jesus. It’s
behavioral influence in the community is that it makes more Christmas livelier as there’s also
competition on making parol, it triggers the creativity of Kapampangans’ on creating this
Christmas decoration and our passion on our religion which is Christianity. It shows how we
value our spiritual beliefs and at the same time it portrays our characteristic as a Filipino on how
lively, positive, and festive we are.
Personally, this season has a big impact in my life, this is my favorite moments with my
family as we always go to the town to watch the giant lanterns, I appreciate the cheerful vibe in
the city, it always reminds me the beauty of life. I remember the first time I am consciously aware
of what is happening on those time and I really enjoyed it, it’s like it is the first time I discovered
Christmas and I think it’s part of the reason why I love to celebrate even simplest moment in my
life and why I am a joyful and always excited and love colorful things. I really endorse this
tradition to other communities as it gives more values and enjoyment every Christmas and
wouldn’t it be amazing that in other places, you’ll find this kind of excitement and festivity.
