children & wives of the Prophet (saws)

3.1Surah At-Tahreem 66: 1-3(Translation & explanation)

Q 1. Describe the background story/event/reason of the revelation of these verses of the


Quran.
Ans. Once it so happened that he stayed longer than usual at the quarters of Zaynab Bint Jahsh, for she
had received from somewhere some honey which the Prophet liked very much. "At
this", says Aishah, "I felt jealous, and I, Hafsah, Sawdah and Safiyah agreed among
ourselves that when he visits us each of us would tell him that a peculiar odor/smell
came from his mouth as a result of what he had eaten, for we knew that he was
particularly sensitive to offensive smells". So, when wives hinted at it, he vowed that he
would never again use honey.

Q 2.Why did the Prophet (SAWS) made honey Haram for himself to eat?
Ans. Once it so happened that he stayed longer than usual at the quarters of Zaynab Bint Jahsh, for she

Q 3. What moral laws may be inferred from these verses of the Quran?
Ans. Men should listen carefully and respectfully what their wives are asking and wanting from them.
Q 4. Briefly describe what may be known from these verses about the love and respect
of the Prophet (SAWS) by his wives.
Ans. Yes, indeed he was. He used to care for her so much. Because many times when both of them
went to travel so he used to keep his leg in such a way that his wife could easily get the support from
his leg to ride on the animal. This was known as his caring. And as for loving her, he never married any
other woman when she was alive because he always loved her very much.

3.2 Children and wives of the Prophet (SAWS)


Q 5. How many children did the Prophet (SAWS) have from his wives other than
Khadijah (R.A.)?
Ans. Hazrat – e – Ibrahim (A.S). He was the son of Hazrat – e – Maria (R.A).

Q 6.State any two ways to show the respect of the Prophet (SAWS) for his children.
Ans. If we speak about them so we should use respectful words such as Hazrat, A.S, R.A.

3.2 Reasons of the multiple marriages of the Prophet (SAWS)


Q 7. Briefly explain the social, political and religious reasons of the multiple marriages
of the Prophet (SAWS)
Ans. Firstly he married in many groups of the society because Arabs always respected their son in law.
Secondly, he married most of the time widows and divorced women to make the society learn to
respect them too and there were many more reasons.
3.3Treatment of the Prophet (SAWS) towards his wives.
Q 8. “Prophet Muhammad (SAWS) married Khadijah (R.A) because of her
wealth/money”. Do you agree? Give reasons for your opinions.
Ans. No. in short, she sent the proposal of marriage to the Prophet (PBUH) so he married her.

Q 9. Give one example to show respect of the Prophet (SAWS) for Khadijah (R.A.) after
her demise/death.
Ans. He used to send gifts to Hazrat Khadija R.A’s friends from his whole heart.

Q 10. “Prophet Muhammad (SAWS) was the most loving and caring husband”. Do you
agree? Give reasons for your opinion.
