The fountain named “Femeia pe valuri” ("Woman on the Waves") made by Constantin Baranschi, in

1966 (the year of the artist's death), is a round-boss composition, framed by six fish measuring 1.1
meters. The decorative wall, which supports the statue, is made of reinforced concrete and covered
with marble. The artist’s work is famous for the model. Inside the decorative platform is placed a
bronze statue, 3.05 meters long, representing a nude of a woman that stands out through her body
shapes that charms at first sight. Inside the pool, on the sides of the platform are placed the six fish
from whose mouth the water gushes towards the statue, these being considered its guards. Listening
to the whisper of the water, admiring the sculpture, the passer-by must know that the sculptor is
special because he was an academician, author of some sculptures on the Arc of Triumph in
Bucharest, of the statue of Carol I, rector of Belle Arte. He blessed us with some sculptures, which are
now in Genoa, as part of the Höhn collection. The difference between those sculptures is that ours is
much finer modeled.
