Pray for others

Good morning ladies and gentlemen. It is my pleasure to welcome everyone to our

beautiful venue today. My topic for today is entitled: Pray for others.
In Colossians 1:9. It says that, we should not cease to pray for others, asking our God that
they may be filled with knowledge of God’s will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding. Who
among you are praying for others?
Let us lift to the Lord our family, friends, teachers and classmates by praying the
following. First is by praying that God grant them spiritual wisdom that will open their spiritual
eyes, which in turn will lead them to understand the value of taking care of their spiritual life.
Second is by praying that they will fully understand the will of God, not through their own
wisdom, but through the power of the Holy Spirit. This will give them quiet strength in the midst
of crises, hope in the midst of failures. Third is by praying that they will learn how to give God
joy and honor. If a person’s goal in doing anything is to give pleasure to others, this person will
be disappointed most times. The best way for anyone to do anything is to give God joy and
honor. Fourth is by praying that they will abound in good works, that they bear good fruit,
because every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Fifth is
praying that their knowledge of God will deepen and widen so that their faith will grow and
become stronger. Sixth is by praying that they will be filled with strength that comes from God.
This is the strength that will give them staying power, so they may continue whatever good work
they have begun. Seventh is by praying that their patience will be stretched all the more so that
they may happily withstand all things patiently waiting with joy because of the hope that good
things will happen. Lastly is by praying that their hearts will be filled with the spirit of
thanksgiving in any situation so their joy may be full. This means being thankful for life itself
and not for the circumstances of life.
It is also written in the Holy Bible, in Matthew 19:19, Matthew 22:39, Mark 12:31, Luke
10:27b, Romans 13:9c, Galatians 5:14 and James 2:8, these Bible verses are about the second
commandment of God, commanding us to love neighbor as yourself. As Christians, God wants
us to love others and thru praying for them, we are doing God’s second commandment. In
praying, we should pray like we are asking these prayer requests for ourselves. So I encourage all
of us to pray that God will help us to be enthusiastic in praying for others as a way of loving
them. Thank you and God bless.
