Introduction
Thank you very much for purchasing Dye Sublimation digital printer MEGAPIXEL III.
This manual explains handling and operation required to use this printer.
Please read this manual well before starting operation and please use the printer correctly.

* Please be sure to read this manual before put the printer in operation. And please keep the
manual anytime for your reference.

* Please don't touch, disassemble nor repair any part of the printer other than the part to which
this manual instructs.

■ In order to prevent the harm for anybody and for property, following mark is indicated.

■ The level of the harm and damage which is causable by miss operation or wrong use of
the printer is shown as follows.

This shows "a possibility of death or a serious damage will be

Caution

■ The following action possibly makes printer be damaged, broken down, or heated,
fumed, and please do not carry out by any means, since it becomes the cause of fire and
electric shock. When any damage and/or serious trouble happens, please switch off the
printer and pull out power plug from wall socket, and ask supplier for their help.

* Please don't drop, step on, give strong pressure or a strong shock on the printer.

* Please don't install the printer in the place where non air flow is and also don't disturb air flow
to/from the printer.

* Please don't install the printer in the place where gives chemical reactions, such as a
laboratory, and the place where air contains salt and gas.

* Please do not use the printer other than the specified power supply voltage and frequency.

* At the time to connect and/or disconnect the power cable/USB cable, please do not pull the
cable to disconnect, nor to move the printer, and also do not place the printer on the cable.

* Please don't drop foreign substances, such as a clip and an insect pin, inside in the printer.

* Please don't plug several power supply leads into a single socket.

* Please don't spill drinks, such as tea, coffee, and juice, into the printer, nor blow a insecticide
spray to the printer. When water etc. is spilt, please switch off the printer and pull out a power
supply code from a wall socket, and ask supplier's help.

* Please don't disassemble nor modify the printer.

■ Please keep the materials covered the printer or throw away to the safety place where a child
may not reach. If it is put on, there is a possibility of suffocation.

General notice
1. In use of printer, please read out "In order to use safely" in advance well and follow with it's
instruction.
2. Please be careful not to drop a clip or a thing like a pin into the printer. It becomes the cause of
failure.
3. Please be careful of movement and/or carrying of the printer. If the printer is dropped, there is a
possibility of damaging body and/or anything others.
4. Please don't open the printer cover during printing.
5 When you clean the printer housing, please don't use thinner, trikren, benzine, ketone liquid
agent nor chemistry dust cloth.
6 Please don’t use the printer in the place with much oil, iron powder, garbage, dust, etc.
7 Please don't spill a liquid etc. to the printer or don't blow a medicine etc.
8 Please don't step on the printer, don't drop, don't strike, or don't give a strong shock or strong
vibration.
9 Be careful to the edge of products not to damage your body and anything else.
10 If abnormal problem occurs while in use of the printer, please stop to use immediately and pull
out power supply plug from wall socket.
11. Please don't disassemble the printer at the time of unrecoverable failure, and ask supplier's help.

Notice for the installation
1. In use of the printer, please read out "In order to use safely" in advance well and follow with
it's instruction.
2. Please don't use the printer in the places where temperature is unusually high such as near the
place with fire, or moisture, the place where direct rays hit, heating instrument, or heat
instrument, low place, and place of high humidity and dusty.
3. Please don't install in a place from where chemical reactions, such as a laboratory, are
generated.
4. Please don't install in a place where air contains salt and gas.
5. Please install a printer on the flat and stable table where enough air flow is given.
(Please don't close fan blow off with a wall etc. without fail)
6. Please don't put anything on the printer.
7. Be careful not to place the printer near a radio or the television, or not to get main power from
the same wall socket, since it may become the cause of radio interference.
8. Please don't use the printer other than the specified voltage and frequency.
9. Please don't place anything on power supply cable and don't step on it.
10. Please don't pull nor carry the printer by power supply cable or USB cable.
11. Please don't plug several power supply leads into a single socket.
12. Please don't bundle power supply cable for using.
13. Please be sure to catch the plug for connecting and/or disconnection of power supply cable.
14. Please be sure to connect and/or disconnect the USB cable only after printer switch off.
15. Please avoid long distance cabling of USB and/or to connect it with the equipment having much
noises. If there is no other way, please use a shield line, a twisted pair wire, etc.
16. Please install the printer in such place where the wall socket is near from and it's easy to
disconnect the plug from the wall socket to shut the power supply easily.
17. Please use 3 pins cable plug with ground line of wall socket. If it is not used, it’s possible to
receive an electric shock
18. Please use the power supply cable specified and approved by safe standard of each country.

Attention
- The printer is heavy, and please be careful to move or carry and/or to take the
printer out from packing box.
- If the printer is fallen down, it’s possible to make damage on your body or anything.
- When you take the printer out from packing box, please hold bottom of the printer.
- Styrene is so weak to be easily broken, and the printer shall be fallen down if
styrene is held up for taking the printer out from packing box.

4. Connect Power Cable
1. Please confirm that the power switch should be OFF.

2. Connects power supply cable in the printer’s power supply inlet.

3. Connects the plug of power supply cable in wall socket.

- Please use the power cable attached with the printer, and be sure to ground the grounding
line of a plug.

5. Connect the Host Computer (PC)


1. Please confirm that the power switch of the printer and PC should be OFF.

6. Paper and Ribbon setting
1. Opens the front cover by pressing the open button.
In case when optional Open button
paper tray is equipped,
please remove the tray
before opening.
* When the front cover
is opened first time,
please take out

2. Sets paper on roll holder assembly. For L-size and 2L-size, attaches L-spacer.

3. Sets paper in the printer.

* Please confirm that paper holder shaft


is set firmly in guide of the printer
side.
If not, it’s possible to have paper jam.

It’s recommended to insert the paper after removing of paper loosing for easier
setting.

4. Sets ribbon in the printer

* By paying attention to ribbon surface of front & back, sets the ribbon core on each supply and
receiving side as shown in below.

* Removes ribbon loosing by turning ribbon of receiving side to the arrow direction approx. 5 times

5. Closes the front cover.

* When the front cover is closed,


paper initialize process shall be carried out
except in the case when the printer is
powered on after paper setting
(in the case, paper initialize is not carried out).

During paper initialize process, outside of roll paper with dust or finger print is removed by
outputting 4 sheets of non printed papers.

* There is a IC tag implemented in the ribbon and a detector in the printer for performing color
offset of media lot, detecting of media type and managing of print counter, to be communicated
between host computer (PC).
So, in the case when other media of no IC tag or wrong tag is set, normal print process is not
secured. For details, please contact with supplier.

In case if different types of media like 2L-Size and Post Card or others are used by the same
printer, quality problem in printed image shall be happened.
So, please do not use different types of media by one printer basically.

But, at the time when different types of media should be used by some reasons, please power
off the printer once, and take out the old media, then power on again and set the new media.

* When the front cover is closed, paper initialize process shall be carried out except in the case
when the printer is powered on after setting of the new media.

7. Paper Cut Off Box setting

In the Paper Cut Off Box, cut off of unnecessary pieces of paper are stacked

Please take those cut off paper away from the box whenever paper media is changed without fail.

It’s possible to have paper jam if the box is fully stacked.

* Please set the box by hanging on the hook as shown in above.

Attention
- Please do not operate nor print when the paper cut off box is taken out.
- Please pay attention not to insert your finger or anything in the cutter located in upper
side when the cut off box is taken out, otherwise it’s possible to injure your finger.

8. Paper Tray setting (Option)

This optional tray is to stack printed sheet of L-size and Post Card size.

Please set the tray by hanging it in gutter of paper cut off box.

Attention
- At the time when the front cover is opened, please take out the paper tray in advance.
Otherwise, it is possible to damage the printer or the paper tray.

2. If Paper is jammed

1. Opens the front cover by pressing


the open button.

2. Please set paper again after removing wrong part of paper such as the sheet of print interrupted,
sheet crushed, by cutting scissors clearly with correct angle. It is possible to have paper jam
again if wrong paper part is used for printing.

* For pulling out paper, please pull slowly.


Too much power may make the printer be
damaged.
In case of serious paper jam, please open
“paper guide upper” after removing the
“paper guide stopper pin” of both sides by
minus screw driver, then please pull paper
out to the arrow direction.

Correct paper edge cut

* If paper edge is cut incorrectly or not clearly, abnormal printing and/or paper jam may be
happened.

3. If Ribbon is cut out
1. Opens the front cover by pressing the open button.

2. Takes the sheet of which printing was suspended away from the printer.
If next image is printed on the same sheet of which print was interrupted, ribbon shall be affixed
on the sheet and shall result in paper jam.

3. Ties the ribbon by transparent cellophane tape.

4. Set the ribbon in the printer.

5. Then turns the ribbon of rewinding side several times until cellophane tape disappears.

4. If power was shut down during printing


* If power is shut down during printing, the front cover is locked to open.

1. Please power ON again and when LED shows Blue, please open the front cover.
(Approx. 10 sec after power on again, LED shall change to indicate blue)

2. Paper sheet of which print is interrupted shall be


remained in the printer, and please pull it out
and cut straightly, and set correct position again.

Attention
- Please don’t shut power down during printing without fail.

1. Cleaning, Platen Roller
Please wipe off powder, garbage, adhesion agent, etc, comes from ribbon and/or paper which
adhering to the platen roller, by ethyl alcohol permeate soft cloth.

Note : Please do not use benzene, thinner etc, other than ethyl alcohol without fail, since
it’s possible to invade resin.

* Please clean the platen in such case when sign or remains which is thought coming from
something like pressure appears on the same place of printed sheet periodically, or back

2. Cleaning, Thermal Print Head


In case if there is powder, garbage, adhesion agent, etc, comes from ribbon and/or paper
which adhering to the print head, please wipe the head surface by cleaning sheet #8000
(3M,Fuji Film etc) approx. 5 times. Please switch off the printer before cleaning without fail.

* Please do not clean the thermal print head frequently as far as print quality has no serious
problem.

Note : Please do not use alcohol,


benzene, thinner and/or sand paper
without fail.

Attention
- Before cleaning, please switch off the printer without fail. Otherwise, there is
possibility to injure or damage your finger or anything by the head assembly.
- Temperature of the print head shall be high just after printing end, and please wait
some time until the print head becomes cooler before cleaning start.

3. Cleaning, Filter
* Please clean filter and bottom of the printer from time to time.

1. Opens the front cover by pressing the open button.

3. Cleans the filter by brush or by cleaner. Also please clean around the fan motor of the printer
bottom (Dust shall attach to paper and shall effect on print quality wrongly)

Note ; In case if the filter is washed by water, please set the filter only after dried well.
Otherwise, it’s possible to cause trouble by rest of water from the filter.

4. Sets the filter again and push the filter cover until it’s set firmly by making sound of ‘Kachhi’.

- It’s important to keep the filter be clean always.


- In case if the filter is stopped up, temperature of printer inside becomes higher, and printing
shall be suspended by showing LED flicking.
In the case, printing shall be restarted automatically soon after temperature becomes down.
- Similar situation may occurs when the print head is heated up by continuous high power
such like by printing of many black images.

Attention
- Before cleaning, please switch off the printer without fail.
