Emergency Response Project (PCERP) which aims to strengthen the Philipines’ capacity to prevent, detect, and respond to the threat posed by COVID-19 and strengthen national systems for public health preparedness. ‘Onc othe initiatives ofthe PCERP, through its environmental and socal standards component, {s the development of « COVID-19 Waste Management Sourcebook in view ofthe surge of the generation of infectious wastes due tothe COVID-19 respons, personal hygiene practices, and the nationwide vaccination program. Iti a compendium of epplicable national policies regarding the proper management of COVID-19 wastes generated from both healthcare and rom-healthcare facility settings. Moreover, the Sourcebook complements the existing Department of Health (DOH) Health Care Waste Management Manual 3" edition (2020), serving as a reference guide vis--vis the management of COVID-10 related wastes. An aaditional feature of the Sourcebook is a pro-forma sef-audit tool which the health care [iis can utilize to evaluate their health cre waste management practices. ‘The current version ofthe Souroebook has been reviewed by the World Bank Group, World Health Organization, as well asthe relevant DOH Oifices, including the Disease Prevention snd Cont! Bureat (DPCB) and Health Facility Development Bureau (HFDB). After concurrence of those offices, the Sourcebook was circulated to the DOH unis, including Centers for Health Development (CHDs) and health care facilities through the DOH Department Circular No. 2021-0453, In this regard, we would like (o invite representatives fom your Offic as participants to the Online ‘Training on the COVID-19 Waste Management Sourcebook and Audit Toot scheduled on 16 February 2022 9:00 AM to 11:30 AM (moming session) and 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM (afternoon session) The taining will discus the salient provisions ofthe COVID-19 ‘Waste Management Sourcebook, which can be accessed at hitps/Mbit | yPCERPCOVI /SWMSourechook2021 ‘This online training wil provide guidance tothe intended users ofthe Soureehook on the proper ‘management of COVID-10-related wastes.
