National Service Training Program (NSTP)1. It refers to the program aimed at enhancing civic
consciousness and defense preparedness in the youth by developing the ethics of service and patriotism
while undergoing training in any of its three (3) program components. It is designed to enhance the
youth’s active contribution to the general welfare.

To serve and correct people 2. What is the prime duty of the government to its citizens?

Literacy Training Service (LTS) 3. Refers to the program component designed to train students to teach
literacy and numeracy skills to school children, out-of-school youths and other segments of society
which is considerably in need of their services.
Civic Welfare and Training Service (CWTS) 4. Refers to the program component of activities contributory
to the general welfare and the betterment of life for the members of the community or the
enhancement of their facilities, especially those devoted to improving health, education environment,
entrepreneurship, safety, recreation and moral of the citizenry and other social welfare services.

The Reserved Officer Training Corps (ROTC) 5. Refers to the program component, institutionalized under
section 38 and 39 of Republic Act No. 7077, designed to prove military training to tertiary level students
in order to motivate, train, organize and mobilize them for national defense preparedness

Program Component 6. Refers to the services components of the NSTP as defined herein.

7. Refers to any private organization duly accredited by CHED or recognized by TESDA

Non-Government Organization (NGO) 8. Refers to the grouping of students enrolled in the different
schools and taking up the same NSTP component into one (1) group under the management and
supervision of the designated school.

Cross Enrollment 9. Refers to the system of enrollment where a student is officially enrolled in an
academic program of a school but allowed to enroll in the NSTP component of other school.

10.The Philippine Military Academy (PMA), Philippine Merchant Academy (PMMA) is exempted from
the NSTP in view of the special character of these institutions. Other State Universities and Colleges of
similar nature will be exempted subject to the approval of the Department of National Defense.

The NSTP shall have the following components which the students can choose from, as defined in Rule
II, Section 3 hereof:

_____14. The CHED, TESDA in consultation with the DND, and PASUC, COCOPEA, and other concerned
government agencies, may design and implement such other non-military training components as may
be necessary for consonance with the provisions of R.A. 9163. Each of the aforementioned NSTP
components shall be undertaken for an academic period of two (2) semesters. It shall be credited for
three (3) units per semester, for 54 – 90 training hours per semester.

Patriotism 18. It is about loving one’s country by being a steadfast and good citizen despite encountering
the daily challenges of life and society.
It inspires a citizen to respond to the call of service to his/her nation and look after his/her fellowmen in
need.
Nationalism 19. It is a patriotic feeling of love for one’s own country or a strong deep-seated attachment
to one’s native land. It is a kind of excessive, aggressive patriotism. It is an attitude of mind that values
and places the welfare of the country over that of all other.

Nation building 20. It is defined as the process through which the boundaries of the modern state and
those of the national community become congruent. The desired outcome is to achieve national
integration.
State Building 21. Refers to the state’s infrastructure and institutions. After a war, a country’s roads,
railways, airports, water systems, etc. may need to be rebuilt.
National Identity22. Refers to the people’s sense of national identity.
Leadership 23. It is the process of influencing individuals or groups to achieve goals; to get the necessary
support and cooperation in community affairs and to maintain solidarity among people.
Leader 24. The one who helps/facilitates communities of people, take risks, and envisions a better
future for his/her group, encourages commitment, and helps people move ahead along a path to
accomplish a goal.
Peter Drucker 25. For Him, pointed out, a leader has followers. Even poor leaders have followers, but
usually not for long. That is because the goal of leadership is to get results.

Providing Vision 26. As a leader, it is expected of you to develop a vision for the organization through
participatory management. It is also better for you to involve your teammates because several heads are
better than one.

Achieving Goals 27.You have set are achieved. Your team members will have a good performance if you
know how to motivate them. Through this, you can expect quality output. To make your vision a reality,
it is very essential that you and your coworkers set goals or objectives. It is your task to see to it that the
objectives.
Initiating Camaraderie and smooth relationship 28. All organizations cannot avoid conflicts or
disagreements, because of the presence of individual differences. It is the task of the leader that this
misunderstanding be immediately resolved, so that it will not become worse. Through the effort of the
leader in solving this conflict, we can expect a harmonious relationship between them or among
members of your organizations.
Laissez-Faire Leadership 29. This type is the largely hands-off with minimal direction and supervision
from the manager to the staff. The key to using this method is having well trained and efficient directors
who can work as intermediaries between you and your employees.

Autocratic Leadership 30. This is a leadership style that has become something of a relic in today's
business environment. The reason is that most employees work better without the overbearing
presence of their boss around at all times. However, there are some who would argue that the
Autocratic methods are still as effective as they were in Feudal Europe - but only if properly balanced
with feedback and face time.

Participative Leadership 31. Is to find a happy medium between the above two methods. These
managers back-off more to allow people to tap their creativity and think independently using their own
initiative, while still maintaining enough control to guide the overall vision of teams without imposing
their own vision on their decisions. In short, you're giving them a much greater lead and will need to be
more trusting of decisions made by your directors.

Situational Leadership 32. Leaders use their leadership skills in different methods depending on if the
calls for task or relationship-oriented decisions
Transactional Leadership 33. This technique has getting things done within the current methods
accepted by the industry. Many people refer to this method as a "by the book" management style. It is a
style of leadership in which leaders promote compliance by followers through both rewards and
punishments. Through a rewards and punishments system, transactional leaders are able to keep
followers motivated for the short term.

Transformational leadership 34. It is a theory of leadership where a leader works with teams to identify
needed change, creating a vision to guide the change through inspiration, and executing the change in
tandem with committed members of a group.

CHED 35. The National Service Training Program (NSTP) is a civic education and defense
preparedness program students instituted by the Government of the Philippines on CHED by virtue
of Republic Act 9163, otherwise known as the "National Service Training Program (NSTP) Act of
2001.

For me, NSTP develops the youth’s physical, moral, spiritual, intellectual, and social well-being

3. What are the core values of NSTP? For me, the core values of NSTP or National Service Training
Program is to discipline the new generation and make their true potential shine while a teenager so they
can build up their true purpose and make a better community.
