We’re excited for the opportunity to assist with your placement testing needs

at Joliet Junior
College. Placement tests help determine which English and math courses you are eligible to
register for and are mandatory pre-requisites for other JJC programs and courses. Because of the
current COVID-19 situation, we are temporarily testing remotely using Microsoft Teams. To
test, you will need the following:
 A computer (desktop or laptop) with a webcam and microphone/speaker. Unfortunately, other
devices such as cell phones, iPads, and other tablets, are not permitted.
 Multiple monitors are not permitted.
 Please review the computer technical requirements and virtual guidelines prior to your
appointment listed on the Testing Services website at https://jjc.edu/student-resources/testing-
services/placement-testing.

Please email Testing Services at TestingServices@jjc.edu for questions or concerns, or if you are
unable to make your scheduled appointment. DO NOT EMAIL THE SENDER OF THIS
COMMUNICATION.

Please follow these steps BEFORE your testing appointment:
1. Go to the Microsoft website, download and install Microsoft Teams Desktop
app: https://products.office.com/en-us/microsoft-teams/download-app#allDevicesSection
*IF you are unable to download TEAMS on your device, make sure you are able to join
the session via your web browser*
2. You must log into your Teams meeting using your JJC credentials (student email).
3. Please make sure your webcam and microphone/speakers are in working condition. If not, you
will be rescheduled.
4. Check your computer settings to allow Microsoft Teams to grant screen sharing and access to
your computer.

When it’s time for your appointment:
1. Sit in a quiet place where you will be alone and undisturbed while testing. You will need
blank scratch paper (no more than 4 sheets) and a regular pencil. Calculators are not
allowed for the math test unless you have a prescribed accommodation approved by JJC’s
Disability Services department.
2. Be sure to have your photo ID ready. You will need to show it to your proctor.
**Copies or pictures of ID cards are not acceptable**.
3. Open these tabs in your browser window:

FULL PLACEMENT TESTERS AND ENGLISH ONLY TESTERS:  Open up a web
browser and go to www.accuplacer.org

MATH ONLY TESTERS: Open a web browser and go to:
https://www.jjc.edu/launch-aleks  (Do not go further as your proctor will assist you from
here.) This is also where you would go back to study on your Prep and Learning
Modules.

4. Go to the Microsoft Teams Desktop app or join via the browser. To join
your remote testing session, click on the calendar icon to the left-hand side of the screen,
click on your appointment, click join, and your proctor will be there to assist you. Make sure
you are on the correct date and time within your Microsoft Teams Calendar.

After your testing appointment:

You may review cut scores at our website, within the “Placement
Scores” section : https://jjc.edu/student-resources/testing-services/placement-testing

You may also find retesting options and complete the placement request form if you need
another appointment.

The information to be shared with your local high school is as follows:
· Your first and last name
· Your date of birth
· Your date of testing
· Your placement testing scores (ALEKS, Accuplacer)
This information will be available to your high school to access and maintain for one academic
