Bari Sax auditions on the Bari Sax part.

Bari Sax- mms pick up to 63- end of piece

Trumpets and Trombones can audition on first or second part. However, if they wish to be
considered for first part in the top band, they have to audition on the first part. Students who
play an actual bass trombone can audition on the Trombone IV part.

1st Trumpet- mms 13-25, and 57-downbeat of 74

2nd Trumpet- mms 13-25, and 57-downbeat of 74

1st Trombone- mms 45-73

2nd and 4th Trombone- mms 57-end

Rhythm Section players audition on their part.

Piano- beginning to mm 25

Bass and Guitar- mms 45-73

Drumset- mms 73- end

2. Improvisation
The majority of the audition will consist of the prepared piece. Improvisation is encouraged and
a large component of jazz in general but is not the focus of the audition. Please prepare a
minimum of two choruses for the Improvisation.

All students (except drum set players) will improvise with F Blues from Jamey Aebersold Volume
1 (track 8)
