The Imperial System
● The U.S. customary system uses inches, feet, yards, and miles
● This is called the Imperial system of measurement: feet, inches, pounds, ounces,
etc.

Smallest to largest
● Inches (in) → 1 inch
● Feet (ft) → 12 inches
● Yard (yd) → 3 feet
● Miles (mi) → 1,760 yards
To measure a pencil….

Use Yards!!!!!
To measure a highway….

Use Miles!!!!
To measure a your friend….

Use Feet and Inches!!!!!

Yard (yd) → 3 feet

Math :) ● Miles (mi) → 1,760


yards
60 inches = How many feet?
12 inches = 1 foot

60 / 12 = 5

Therefore you have 5 feet


27 feet = How many yards?
1 yard = 3 feet

27/3 = 9

Therefore 9 yards
10 yards = How many feet?
1 yard = 3 feet

10 x 3 = 30

Therefore 30 feet
