GRAMMAR: COMPARATIVE ADJECTIVES

( Tính từ so sánh hơn)

Sử dụng So sánh hơn của tính từ (Comparative adjectives ) để so sánh giữa người (hoặc vật) này với người
(hoặc vật) khác .
 This computer is better than that one.
 She's stronger at chess than I am.
 It's much colder today than it was yesterday.
 Our car is bigger than your car.
 This grammar topic is easier than most others.
 I find science more difficult than mathematics.
1. Tính từ ngắn.
Form: S1 + tobe + Adj-er + than S2 
Tính từ ngắn là những tính từ có 1 âm tiết.
 My sister is taller than me. (Chị gái tôi cao hơn tôi)
 It's colder today than it was yesterday. (Trời hôm nay lạnh hơn hôm qua)
 China is bigger than India. (Trung Hoa to lớn hơn Ấn Độ)

Note: Nguyên âm: u, e, o, a, i

Phụ âm: còn lại
+ Nếu tính từ kết thúc với 1 nguyên âm + 1 phụ âm thì gấp đôi phụ âm cuối rồi thêm “er”. Examples:
big-bigger, fat-fatter, hot-hotter.
+Một số tính từ không theo quy tắc:

Good/well -> better
Bad/ badly -> worse
Much/ many -> more
a little/ little -> less
far -> farther/ further
old -> older/ elder
2. Tính từ dài.
Tính từ dài là những tính từ có từ 2 âm tiết trở lên
a. Tính từ có 2 âm tiết tận cùng là “y” : đổi –y thành -ier
 She's looking happier today. (Cô ấy trông vui hơn hôm nay.)
 This grammar topic is easier than the last one. (Ngữ pháp bài này dễ hơn bài trước.)
 Why is everyone else luckier than me? (Tại sao mọi người đều may mắn hơn tôi?)
Note: Một số tính từ kết thúc bằng: “y, le, ow, er” thì adj -er
Examples: simple-simpler, clever-cleverer, narrow-narrower.
b. Tính từ có 2 hoặc 3 âm tiết trở lên .
Form: S1 + tobe + more + Adj + than S2

Russian grammar is more difficult than English grammar. (Ngữ pháp tiếng Nga khó hơn ngữ pháp tiếng Anh.)

Pronoun
S1: Chủ ngữ 1 (Đối tượng được so sánh)
S2: Chủ ngữ 2 (Đối tượng dùng để so sánh với đối tượng 1)
Auxiliary V (Aux.V) : trợ động từ O (object): tân ngữ N (noun): danh từ Pronoun: đại từ
