Cervical stenosis

• The passageway through cervix is narrow or


completely closed.
Symptoms
• Depends on whether the cervix is partially or
completely obstructed.
• Premenopausal patients may have a build up
of blood inside the uterus which may cause
infection, sporadic bleeding or pelvic pain.
• Increased risk of infertility and endometriosis.
Causes-
1. Congenital
C/F- Primary amenorrhea & Hematometra
Treatment – Plastic surgery to drain
hematometra & establish the menstruation.

2. Traumatic – by Cauterization & Conization


C/F- Secondary amenorrhea, Dysmenorrhea,
Infertility, Hematometra
Treatment – Dilatation under anesthesia.
3. Infection & Chronic cervicitis
Treatment – Treat the infection & Dilatation
under anesthesia.

4. Ca cervix – Treat the cancer

5. Menopausal atrophy – causes pyometra


Treatment – Treat the infection, estrogen
creams are prescribed.
