My husband Micah Helser is a MEDEVAC pilot for the US Army, deployed to Iraq.
… (1) At a moment’s notice, he and his crew fly to a distress call, remove the injured, and then fly

Along with another soldier, Micah built a climbing wall in the middle of Iraq desert, with limited
supplies and outrageous temperatures. The building materials were salvaged from other projects
across the base. After months of hard work and planning the wall was ready.

rock faces, cool mountain air – a reminder that war cannot take what’s inside a man.
… (4) Most climb barefoot, laughing and struggling. As for my husband, you’ll most likely find him,
during his time off, wearing his flight suit half-unzipped and tied around his waist.

breathe deeply and observe the beauty around you.
