Narrative Essay

Who would not like to travel to the United States, meet new cultures and make money
on vacation? The Work and Travel program is for young university students or
institutes from countries such as Ecuador, Colombia, Puerto Rico, Republican
Dominican, brazil, china and others. So, this is a program that I had the opportunity to
access in two of my summer vacations.

My first experience took place on Jackson Hole, Wyoming. This place today is so
beautiful and so familiar to me, since I was living for 3 months. It is a town where you
can find whatever you need. For example, there are cinemas, bars, many restaurants,
fast foods, market, etc. It is also surrounded by mountains, where you can casually
observe deer.

I worked in the laundry attendant area at the Snake River Lodge and Spa hotel, located
in Teton Village, Wyoming. However, the roles that this hotel offers were housekeeper,
dishwasher, busser and prep cook. My work schedule was approximately between 35
and 40 hours per week and, in general, all the positions are very simple to do them. I
had the offer my employer to give us free lunch on business days and ski passes to the
mountains.

The hardest part of the work, where to give directions on the first 2 weeks, because
you don’t know perfectly well the park to try take them to the right place and of
course they are talking to you in other language. So one day (my 3th day at the park)
some client that where crossing over asked to me “can you tell me where Jhonny
Rockets at?” and confuse I answer “that way, all straight, then turn to left and you will
find it”, he nicely said “thanks”. But in 10 minutes he just found me (again) and he start
to scream me that “I make him waste his time”. So that where the hardest part of the
job.
This program allows you to be independent, to know how to distribute your own
money, and especially to live with people from other countries, who have different
ways of thinking. The Work and Travel program allowed me to meet many people
around the world. And above all with some of them still writing to until today
