Philippine Literature Test

1. What makes Philippine literature interesting?

Philippine literature is interesting since it’s unique in many aspects like Philippine
is unique for having many important works in many languages, Rizal as one of the
writers who wrote many poems, letters and etc. by using different languages that is
known up till now. We have variety of styles, techniques, genres and stories to tell
that exist and happened only in the Philippines. We have our own stories to tell that
why Philippine literature is interesting because of our rich island stories, experience,
traditions and language.

2. How can you describe the Philippine literature?

Philippine Literature as a legend that flourish through time that keeps evolving as
countries colonizes us. For every period have passed and for every generations,
different genres of literature have been adapted but Philippine literary texts keeps
flourishing. And we are the only country who have a literature associated with
historic events of colonial legacies that mark as a strong independents Filipinos that
stood still today with more literature and legends to tell.

3. Why do we study Philippine literature?

We need to study Philippine literature for us to not be ignorant in our own

country. Philippine literature represents our culture, traditions, religion and norms.
We have our own mark in Philippine literature but most of the time it’s confusing
since we have been colonized by different countries. They made us adapt their own
styles and techniques and by this we can be confused and lost. And in studying
Philippine literature we can answer those unending questions, we can explore why
this and those exist and occurred during those time and in our time. It show real life
situations that inspires us to prove that we Filipinos are capable of everything.
4. How can literature help us in life?

Literature gives us second chance to reflect on things and decisions. It influences

us to have a critical mindset in a way of encouraging, inspiring and giving us a new
perspective of what life should be. It helps us see more of what life is than what we
only see in our own naked eye. Literature is an escape world that is made through
our creative thinking. Some uses words to express their emotions to relieved sadness,
joy and disappointment because sometimes the only way to relieved emotions is by
writing it down than communicating it personally because not all knows how to
communicate well especially when it’s about what that person is feeling.

5. Why do Filipino writers write in English?

Filipino writers make use of the foreign language qualities that makes it more
interesting to explore while making literary texts. Tagalog is not flexible enough to
cater the words and phrases that could get the gist of the writer. There are realities
that can’t capture with tagalog words the using English which is now the universal
language shows variety forms of words that express thorough explanation of that
certain phrase that tagalog can’t express enough.

6. Why is literature important for students?

Literature is important for students as a stepping stone in helping us improve

our writing and comprehensive skill. Literary texts are broad and at times it’s foreign
to students and by reading literary texts we can learn new words, sentence structure,
patterns and standard in making stories or literary pieces. Literature offers students
opportunity to discover, think and evaluate the past and understanding the way of
life now and before.

7. How do you promote literature?

There are many ways to promote Literature like, you can make a club or an
organization and collaborate with the teachers to empower the importance of
literature, but for me the best way to promote literature is lead by example. Students
or a person would be just interested and curious if there someone they see try and
experience the impact of something to that someone. That’s why I would promote
literature by Leading as an example, and for me to lead as example I would be
needing to have more knowledge about literature and all its parts and know how to
get their “kiliti” in that way it will be easier to get their attention.
