Nine Box Grid fitment (Individual Assignment: 10 marks)

You are the HR manager in an IT company. You are working with your leadership team to fit
your employees into the nine box grid, which has been designed keeping in mind the
organisation strategy and needs of your firm and sector.

Your organisation XYZ Technologies is based at Bangalore and employs a total of 300
employees in technical and support positions. XYZ Technologies was started in 2015. Your
client base are companies in India who buy the software products that your company designs
customised to suit their needs. The CEO of your organisation firmly believes in Talent
Management and over the last few years has made it a point to ensure that talent is managed
well to ensure smooth succession planning.
You have kept all details ready for the Talent management exercise to enable fitment to
happen properly. Please run through the details with your leadership team and come to a
conclusion who would be fitted where and why.
Given:

1. Performance and Potential behaviour definitions.


2. Ratings of both the performance and the potential of employees over a three year period.
3. You will now decide with your team which employee (only the 5 employees marked in blue)
will be based in which box of the grid giving a three line reasoning why.
4. After which you will create a plan in terms of designation and time for any 2 employees.
This would mean a brief growth or PIP for high performing or low performing employees
keeping in mind the promotion policy and the other criteria given in the case
