21ST CENTURY
LITERATURE
FROM THE
PHILIPPINES
AND THE WORLD

1. WHAT DID I UNDERSTAND?
What I have learned in this new lesson is the
significance of peer and self-assessment in
adapting to something new for us and gaining
a deeper understanding of ourselves is
something. It's pretty much identical to our
lesson, which is an adaptation of a literary
work that I learned in this lesson as well. The
term "literary text adaptation" describes the
process of transforming literary works into
another form. Manga to anime, novels to
comics, narrative books to live action, and a
variety of other things, such as poetry, are all
examples. However, there are four main types
or levels of adaptation, each with various
degrees of adherence to the source material,
and I deeply understand each of them.
Because I genuinely love seeing what I read
and vice versa in order to fully understand
what is happening in the original work or what
will happen next.
2. WHAT DID REALIZE?

I realized that there are different types or

levels of adaptation of a literary text, which
broadens my understanding of those four.
Because some films are not close to the
literary text or book stories, and vice versa,
there are some balancing the adaptations. As
a member of an audience or spectator who
reads as well as watches an adaptation, I am
quite disappointed with the outcome. We had
already read the book before it was adapted,
so we had high expectations and were looking
forward to the adaptation. I became aware of
them all while watching anime, which
adapted them from light novels, manga, and
other literary works or texts. Despite the fact
that they were not similar to or as wonderful
as the original, I appreciate, respect, and
adore the adaption since I enjoyed it.
3. WHAT DO I WANT TO LEARN MORE?

I still want to learn more about peer and

self-assessment, as well as literary text
adaption. Because students must have
peers and self-assessment in order to
help us become better people in the
future together with other people.
Literary text adaptation is something else
I would like to learn more about,
especially since there are so many film
adaptations in this modern period, or
digital generation.
4. HOW WILL I IMPROVE MYSELF/ COMMUNITY/ SOCIETY/
COUNTRY/ WORLD BASED ON WHAT I HAVE LEARNED?

I am going to improve myself/ community/

society/ country/ based on what I have
learned in real life such as through
socializing, adapting anything for
innovation, or simply applying the peer and
self-assessment techniques provided in the
module. Because, as a young person or
student, we need to understand how things
works in order to achieve something,
accept failure, and go on with the
knowledge of how to deal with similar
situations in the future or develop. In
addition, I look forward to gaining myself by
reading the original work of a film
adaptation in order to gain knowledge and
skills in adaptation and story telling.
5. HOW CAN WE MAKE THIS AN IMPORTANT AND RELEVANT
PART OF OURSELVES AND THE SOCIETY TODAY?
We can make this an important and
relevant part of ourselves and society
today by applying what we've learned
from our lives or from our failures in
order to set things right for tomorrow.
Knowing our self-assessment can help us
figure out what we lack and what
strengths we do have and need to
develop. In terms of literary adaptation,
there are many other ways we may make
it an important and relevant part of
ourselves and society today, such as
loving and appreciating both the book
and its adaptation in other forms. Others
should be acknowledged if they want to
read a story from a book rather than see
its adaptation, and vice versa.
THANK YOU!

goal is to drive
people back to
the books, when
I think of an
adaptation."
