PLASTICS

There are wide variety of plastic building materials taking many diverse forms. Foam plastic boards and
shapes, plastic insulation, plastic veneers, plastic finish and trim shapes, light-transmitting plastics for
glaz - ing, and plastic composites, including plastic lumber.

Moisture content can range from practically zero (i.e. completely dry) to high values depending on the
saturation. Therefore, methods used for moisture determination in plastics must be highly accurate to
ensure safe, effective molding and final product quality.

Plastics with sufficient surface hardness are having good durability. Sometimes, plastics may affected by
termites and rodents especially in the case of thermo-plastic types, however it is not a serious problem
because of no nutrition values in plastic.

Because plastics are typically flammable, the code places restrictions on their use related to their flame
spread and smoke generation.
