ASSESSMENTS

1. Test 1: Units 1 & 2 (20%) Multiple choice – Sunday, March 1813, 2022 at 4:00 p.m.

2. INDIVIDUAL (10%)
Individual presentation on a current affairs topic

Students will prepare a 5-minute presentation on any current affairs issue relating to the
course outline, providing a

 Summary of the issue/article - 10 marks


 Its relevance to the module and why it was chosen
 Two implications each for Business, Governance & Society - 30 marks
 Response to questions - 10 marks
 Layout of written Submission (APA format, grammar, references) - 15 marks
 Powerpoint (clarity, design, logical, grammar, spelling, max. 10 slides) - 15 marks
 Delivery (clarity, logical, grammar, within time, not reading verbatim, focus) - 20 marks

 Current issue – not more than 6 months’ old


 Students should submit a summary of their presentation, with the link to the selected
article included – 2 pages plus references, cover
 The powerpoint presentation should also be submitted.
 Submissions should be saved with YOUR NAME – ID – CURRENT AFFAIRS eg.

Presentations will be unscheduled and students should be ready to present at any time after
Week 7
3. Group Assignment (25%) – Week 11 March 23 – 29, 2022

This includes both a written presentation (15%) and an oral presentation (15%). Students
may be required to evaluate the contribution of their peers to the assignment.

Group size 5-7 persons

6. Rural Agricultural Development Agency (RADA)

a. Oral report (10%)

 For the agency assigned, your presentation will be on its:


o Role & responsibilities (Why does it exist? What problem(s) is (are) it set up to
address? What problems are likely to arise if it did not exist?)
o challenges faced and
o impact on business, government & society (e.g. What problems are likely to arise
if it did not exist? What are its successes? Etc.)

Subject to circumstances, this will be for 10 minutes, using whatever presentation aids the group
chooses. The oral presentation will be followed by Q & A (5 minutes). The manner in which
questions are dealt with, and the content of the answers will contribute to your INDIVIDUAL &
GROUP grade. (SEE SUGGESTED RUBRIC FOR GUIDANCE IN
PREPARING/DELIVERING THE PRESENTATION!)

PLEASE NOTE THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE REQUIREMENTS FOR THE


ORAL AS AGAINST THE WRITTEN PRESENTATION!
