Welcome to MANAGING HOUSEKEEPING OPERATIONS! My name is Vanessa

Santacruz; I am your Hospitality Instructor. I want to extend a warm welcome (or welcome
back) as you begin what promises to be an exciting and memorable module.
This helpful management course provides students with the tools to achieve today's guest's
proper and expected standards in our current lodging and foodservice organizations. As our book
says, "Nothing sends a stronger message than cleanliness in a hospitality operation. No level of
service, friendliness, or glamour can equal the sensation a guest has upon entering a spotless,
tidy, and conveniently arranged room."

You must be ready to work smart and work hard. Identify problems and present solutions to
those problems. Success is dependent on your ability to come up with solutions to problems, then
implement and execute the solutions. Remember: To be successful, you need to be able to not
only recognize an opportunity but also be willing to act to seize that opportunity.

You are meeting the people who will become your lifelong friends and mentors. The success in
your journey through life will depend on the effort and the choices you make now; I am firmly
committed to supporting your success. In return, you will study hard, seek out and respect the
opinions of others, enjoy the wide variety of activities my class has to offer and find
opportunities to give back to your communities.
