If Diesel Engine Generator or genset is placed in
area Class I Zone-1 where flammable gases or
vapors exist, there is potential risk of electric spark
from motor starter or risk of fire from engine’s
exhaust pipe.
The type of electric panel and motor starter shall
be explosion proof or Ex-d type.
Project impact :
‒ Cost of Ex-d type is more expensive.
‒ Bid price will be higher.
The exhaust pipes shall be extended outside of
platform perimeter.
