Process Paper NHD

Since I was young, I have always been interested in women’s rights, and I
loved reading stories about women who had changed history. It is important to
know that I am a French exchange student and so I know fewer important people
in the United States than in France. I know very well for example the history of
Coco Chanel or Marie Curie, but much less of American women... I still
remember Rosa Park, the woman who fought for racial equality, and the one who
dared to confront a white man in 1955. With my friend we really take a lot of time
to choose our subject, I think it’s not an original subject but it talks about a lot of
different things like the big fights the colored people had to lead to racial
equality…
To start our search we watched somes videos about Rosa Parks and the
Boycott bus to understand and learn more about the topic. After that we started
looking for primary sources on internet like photos, official documents,
interviews… I also went to the library to try to find some book or article about
Rosa, the bus boycott, the segregation racial… To finish we were looking for lots
of different websites to try to find more information and take notes for our project.
For my project I chose to make a website. First because I think it is a good
way to present a project, we are not limited to write and put photos, we can make
the difference between each section of the theme. Also a good thing, we can
change the website anyway we want and many times. For example I can change
the text very easily, change its place, enlarge or resize the photos… To finish we
put all our searches with the links of all our sites, photos, videos in a table exelle
to organize all the information we had.
I divided the searches, the photos and the texts into five sections. First "Home"
where there is a small introduction. You will also find the process paper, and
some pictures. Second “her early life” where I talk about her childhood and the
racial segregation before the boycott. Third is “Her arrest”, fourth is “The bus
boycott” and the fifth is “Life after” where I talk about her life after the bus boycott,
the conclusion and the sources.
My project is related to the History Day theme “Debate & Diplomacy in History:
Successes, Failures, Consequences” because of Rosa Parks is a woman who
lead bigs fight against segregation racial, but it’s not just her fight, it’s also the
fight to many millions of Africans Americans, who are victims of segregation
since so long times… In their fight they had some success but also some
failure…
