or modify the associations of that master brand: Hp LaserJet, Hp inkjet, Dell Inspiron
 Branded House: Virgin Airlines, Virgin Express, Virgin Radio, Virgin Rail

1. House of Brands: In house of Brands, sub-brands are featured ad promoted instead of


company or corporate brand itself.
Example: Hilal Food Pvt. Ltd have range of sub-branded products under it such as ding
dong, cupcake, choran chatni and much more. Likewise, the walt Disney has number of
exceptional sub-brands under it such as Disney channel, marvel, Disney world, Disney
junior and much more.

2. Endorsed brands: Endorsed brands is more near to house of cards, you would notice
endorsed brands have many products and offerings of their own and they have separate
identity, however, they are still supported by corporate brands or house of brands as
they are symbol of quality. It helps in building brand awareness and long-term trust with
the customers.
Examples: Kellogg’s (rice crispies, frosted flakes, and All Brans) Kellogg’s has many
products under it and they have separate identity, so, if my mom is going out to get
groceries and I ask her to bring corn flakes and I dot really mention that I want Kellogg’s
corn flakes, she can bring any but even she chooses only Kellogg’s corn flakes that is the
trusted choice in our family. and Nestle KitKat, Cadbury Dairy Milk and same goes for
Nestle KitKat.

3. Sub-Brands : Sub-branding is when brand itself creates a secondary brand to seize the
opportunity to reach new target segment, such sub-brands can build long-term relationship with
new target segment and audience.
Toyota (Camry, Corolla, Rav4) and Coca-Cola (diet, zero) Since more and more people
were becoming health conscious and people started to realize how unhealthy Coca-Cola
is, than Coca-Cola came up with diet and zero coke, however, the target audience is
niche. Toyota has land cruiser and many other luxurious and sporty cars, however, they
built Camry and corolla is for middleclass and for people who have family and run on a
budget.

4. Branded House: In this, firm is the brand. All the sub-brands are directly and visibly
associated to the main brand. This results in high brand recall, and easily recognizable.
Example: Carrefour has both supermarket and express market which is a very smaller
and convenient retail store, however, one can easily recognize this retail store and
expects similar quality (Carrefour Supermarket, Carrefour express) And Google Map,
Google classroom, Google calendar. One would be amazed how google has expanded
it’s brand house and how efficiently it works. And in branded house one expects similar
quality, efficiency and productivity like the main brand.
