Euthanasia Ought Not to Relieve Pain and Suffering

Life is indeed a valuable and meaningful gift from God. Life is so precious that taking

care of it is our primary duty and responsibility as a means of treasure and respect. Some people

are experiencing other kinds of sickness or illnesses in the course of their lives. It can be

something that has a cure or something that doesn’t.

However, when a sick person or a relative of that terminally ill person wants to end their

pain and suffering, there is a practice called Euthanasia where a doctor assists a patient in killing

themselves by providing a lethal drug and administers the drug directly to them. But Euthanasia

should not be legalized as it will only bring hopelessness and despair to vulnerable people,

disabled, elderly, and depressed people. It will put pressure on them to end their lives for fear of

being a burden or misfortune upon others.

Not all people who are terminally ill wish to end their lives. Some are finding hope and

faith despite the agony that they’re feeling. Some want to continue extensive treatments from

doctors through the hope of a miracle cure. After all, doctors are responsible for promoting the

health and safety of their patients. Before they learn how to take a life, they must learn how to

save one.
