pmclaughlin@endeavorb2b.com person expressed to me, with a notable sense of
despair, that their loyalty has worked to their dis-

The answer seems simple. Don’t be a fool. Don’t be loyal to an employer,
and don’t hang around long enough for that employer to prove their disloyalty

make up a culture.
And I think for a moment about the types of people who might find them-

it’s wise to do so? Who continues to believe in someone, or something, when

or personality can be found in the volunteer groups, committees, and organiza-
tions that enhance the ICT profession daily. They’re among the people who put
immeasurable effort into producing the standards, manuals, and educational
material that serve as the foundation for the work that gets done on an ICT
project. For many, that spirit of loyalty and giving is etched deep into the per-

treating another person, or an organization, better than is deserved.
In Shakespeare's Hamlet, the character Polonius says, “This above all: To
thine own self be true.” Many interpret that as a statement against loyalty,
amounting to the attitude, “Take care of yourself; forget others.” I disagree. To
me, the word “true” in that quote is critical. Be true to yourself. Be authentic.

In the end, this full package will allow operators to of-
fer best-in-class connectivity solutions for network services,
network providers, internet service providers, cloud pro-
viders and data center interconnects. Adding an all-opti-
cal switch for remote and automated operations or network
transport systems for bandwidth expansion solutions to the
mix enhances the overall capabilities and possibilities to
drive even further growth and opportunities.
While connectivity is of course important, colocation op-
erators also provide other services that must be taken into
account. These include providing access to cloud resources,
building structured cabling systems, providing network ser-
vices, and renting out hardware resources. A seamless, inte-
grated structured cabling strategy using a comprehensive
solution portfolio will ensure that all connectivity and ser-
vice requirements can be met at all times—now and in the
years to come.

Addressing current and future needs

Data center operators are looking for solutions that meet the
needs of today, paying only for what is required at a given mo-

when demands change, operators should consider scalable
solutions that offer upgrade options when needed. Operating

Organizations at the forefront of cabling-system test technologies
describe what they see on the horizon for this essential function.

BY PATRICK McLAUGHLIN

We recently had the opportunity to gain insights and opinions from several providers of test-equipment
products and systems serving the cabling and information and communications technology (ICT) industry.
We used the opportunity to get information from them on their portfolios of products and technologies, as
well as their views of what is driving change and evolution
in testing processes. Specifically, we asked each participant
