1. INTRODUCTION
Students grow in rapid technological development. They have vital understanding of
technologies. Students think and talk in different ways. In today's world of technology teachers and
parents are likened to 'immigrants' in the digital technology world (Digital Immigrants) while today's
Students are called 'natives' in the digital world, they socialize with networking sites Social in
cyberspace such as Facebook, Twitter, whatsapp, Line, Path, Instagram, tumbler, LinkedIn, and
more. Thus, this phenomenon will become a new challenge for the educational world our
educational system embraces the development of this technology by making a method, adapting
and used as a tool to approach learning, not only as a user but teachers must apply the method
because Students as' residents Native in the digital world ', must learn in a new way not by the old
and outdated way. (Sampurno, 2015)
So a Biology teacher should have a broad perspective, must be well-informed, must be an
omni-reader and always forward-thinking by doing learning to increase the self capacity in order not
to be obsolete and obsolete. According to Alvin Toffler The concept of illiteracy in the 21st century
is: "The illiterate of the 21st century will not be those who can not read and write, but those who
can not learn, unlearn, and relearn." (Anonim, 2015). The small idea that then arises is what if the
Students' ideas about the outcomes of the classroom learning poured in a record that can be
accessed by all Students in the class even around the world so that it can be commented on,
discussed and even approved by other Students, then, twitter Become the choice as an online
learning medium.
Twitter is an information network service or social media facility and microblog that allows
its users to send and read text-based messages of up to 140 characters each post, called tweets. In
addition to the uniqueness of twitter there are many reasons why choosing twitter as an online
learning media one of which is its ability to track the topic or discussion of the material to be taught.
Hashtags are an easy way for Students to categorize, search and join conversations about a
particular topic. Hashtag is used to highlight keywords or topics in a tweet, and can be placed
anywhere in the post.
In classes that apply Tweebi, Students work in group only to facilitate, organizing and for
group discussions to occur to solve real world problem. This plan refers to the following points 1)
Curriculum: Tweebi is not like the traditional curriculum, because it requires a target strategy where
students and tweets are central, 2) Responsablity: Tweebi emphasizes student responsability and
anwerability, 3) Active-learning: Cultivate an issue that culminates in the question and the desire of
the students to find the relevant answer, so that there has been an independent learning process, 4)
Feedback: discussion, tweeting, and evaluation of the students generating this valuable feedback
leads to inductive learning, 5) General Skills: Tweebi is developed not only in basic skills and
knowledge but also has a profound influence on fundamental skills such as the millenial culture that
encourages students to technology literacy, written communication, creating unique and variety of
opinions, able to campaign in social media, investigate, inquiry/discovery, autonom, problem
solving, teamwork, self-management, and critical thingking, 6) Driving questions: Tweebi is focused
on issues that trigger students to solve problems with appropriate concepts, principles, and sciences.
The learning revolution is a rapid and radical change in the way that today's learning needs
to be done so that new, faster and better possibilities can be provided by technology. Information
and communication today and the future for learning, can be utilized optimally as possible by
men. ... "we need a learning revolution to compensate for the information revolution, so that
everyone can enjoy the common benefits of tremendous human potential" (Anonymous (online),
2015). Based on the above description, the teacher as a composer in the design of learning combines
the advancement of technology with the utilization of social media so as to be a revolutionary
learning. Therefore it is necessary one of so many choices of social media that can be applied in
learning in the class one of them is twitter. Thus the author composed a scientific paper entitled
"Tweebi (Tweet Biology) Revolution Students Students in 140 Characters."

2. METHOD
Tweebi is short for Tweet Biology is a learning medium designed to get students involved
individually or collaboratively that make them adept at solving problems and have proficiency in oral
and written communications. The learning process uses a scientific approach to solve the contextual
problem to stimulate students to learn.
a. Plan
Firstly students are given an orientation about the method of learning Tweebi. The class
that is the subject of the implementation of Tweebi in class X MIPA 1 Academic Year 2015/2016. The
material used is Environmental change The basic competence of environmental change impacts, the
efforts that can be done as well as presenting the results of recycled products. In that orientation
Students are given an understanding of the implementation of learning process and For Students
who do not have an account on Twitter, Students create an account using existing email. Introducing
the character of this social media so that students get used to twitter. After each student account is
ready, the teacher starts the learning process.
b. The Process of Sign in Twitt er
Stages of making Tweebi are as follows:
1) open the site of a Twitter registration page addressed at https://twitter.com/signup
2) Complete fill in the requested data ie full name, email, password, and username and content
until the data is valid. After all the data is filled and valid then the next step is click "Create My
Accout"
3) Open your email and look in the inbox. Open a confirmation email from twitter and click the
confirmation link.
4) Setting the profile settings by Click Menu then select View My Profile Page
5) Clicking "Edit Your Profile" and change your profile picture by clicking browse button and after
that please select your best photo to post.
6) Fill in the website if you have a web or blog and do not forget your Bio contents and if it is
finished all now just click "Save Changes", and your twitter is done.

3. RESULT AND DISCUSSION

a. Why Tweebi
According to Sanjaya (2014: 205) The development of computer technology with the
internet network system today, the impact on the change of teacher role and change of
management of learning, which then leads to a paradigm shift of teaching. Students act as students,
teachers act as facilitators who direct and provide instruction in accordance with the learning style
of students.
According Wena (2012: 211) Application of the Internet as an integral part of the learning
system has been done by several educational institutions. However, many schools are still limited by
school policies regarding banning smartphone usage and restrictions on the use of social media in
the classroom. This has an impact on the behavior of students who steal time using mobile phones in
the classroom. This behavior can have an effect on creating a dishonest character in the student. In
an effort to overcome this, borrow the ancient term "If you can not beat them, join them" (Russo,
2013: 1) embraces social media and brings social media into learning.
The purpose of using Twitter is how students can absorb the subject matter comfortably
and learn the information according to the topic of discussion. Ideas that develop and change the
way we think and the way we do things in life always come from small ideas. Is bringing twitter in
the classroom in Biology learning (TweeBi) comes from the discussion of some experts on
educational forums on twitter such as @ edutopia, @TpTdotcom, @NIHSciEd and articles written by
Russo (2013) about "Guest Post: Creating Scientist in 140 Characters" Making writers more stable to
apply twitter in the classroom on biology learning.
High school students can sometimes be very closed and shy in class, but vocals are online.
In addition, one-on-one lesson hours are limited to 90 minutes and if applying a scientific learning
model, not all students are involved in the communicating stage of talking in the classroom. The two
things that drive Twitter become the appropriate means of discussion. Students are able to speak in
class "without actually speaking in class", sharing comments, insights, and even relevant links
through Twitter as a medium of discussion. Twitter provides more interaction not only in the
classroom, but outside, even students can continue after the learning ends.
According to Setiawan (2012) Twitter is a free and wild brainstorming space. Through
twitter, we can ask questions and get many ideas from different perspectives. The idea of Indonesia
Bercerita itself was born in timeline. It's just that to keep in mind, twitter is a public space so that
creative ideas born in timeline can be accessed and learned by anyone. In addition, twitter has been
used as a collaborative learning medium.
Twitter offers learning opportunities that are focused on a particular topic or subject, by
learning outside the textbook. Through Twitter classrooms in any school can be tracked using a
hashtag mark (#), where they subscribe to all tweets that include certain words or phrases, such as
"environment" or "sustainable," return results with insight, new developments , and much more.
This exercise is great for allowing students to keep up with current events and learn about resources
they may not find.
As the focus of learning on a particular unit or subject, twitter offers a great opportunity to
keep monitoring and updating information outside of school textbooks. Through twitter, high school
classes can trace a word and can subscribe to all tweets containing special terms like "HIV",
biologyconservation, biology, and provide insight into biological materials. This exercise is perfect for
getting students to follow the growing trend of knowledge and learning from any source unlimited
space and time.

b. Applying Tweebi in Biology Learning

Tweebi used in teaching and learning activities based on Scientific learning In students of
class X MIPA 1. Students play a role as learning center, while teacher only as facilitator.
Implementation of learning includes initial activities, core activities, and closing activities.

According to Syarif (2015) Explanation of the Tweebi based on scientific learning are as
follows:
1) Observing
Observing activities aims to make the learning process more meaningful and very useful for the
fulfillment of the curiosity of students. The object being analyzed is environmental change.
Through observation, students find their own view by fact that environmental changes have to
be overcome. In this process teacher choose a short video “The Pacific Trash Vortex” 1 on
youtube.
2) Questioning
Asking is expected from students. Questioning learning activities are conducted by asking
questions about information that is not understood from what is observed or questions to
obtain additional information about what is being observed (starting from factual questions to
hypothetical questions). The requests may also not be disclosed, but may be in the minds of
students. To lure students to reveal it the teacher should give them a chance to express the
question. Activity inquiring by teachers in learning is also very important, so it should still be
done.
3) Data Collect/Collect Information
To obtain real or authentic learning outcomes, students should reaseach library via the internet
on appropriate material or substance. Students also have the process skills to develop
knowledge about environmental changes. In order for the implementation of information
gathering to run smoothly (a) Teachers should formulate indicators that will be developed by
students that is Creating campaigns about the impact of climate change, the efforts that can be
done and presenting the results of recycled products and prepare a list of sites to be used, (b)
Teachers provide time limits for information collection, (c) students carry out research libraries
with teacher guidance, and (d) Teachers collect student work and evaluate it, if deemed
necessary to be discussed in a classical way.
4) Associating
In the activity of associating / processing information there are activities of reasoning. The term
"reasoning" in the framework of the learning process with the scientific approach adopted in the
Curriculum 2013 to illustrate that teachers and students are active actors. Reasoning is a logical
and systematic process of thinking over empirical facts that can be observed to derive
conclusions of knowledge.
The reasoning is scientific reasoning, refers to the ability to group ideas and associate various
events to then incorporate them into memorable memories. At this stage students organize
ideas and findings to serve as a single tweet and tweet series.
5) Communicate
Communicating is the science and practice of conveying or transmitting information or different
types of messages. During the learning process, teachers consistently communicate or transmit
new knowledge, information, or messages to students. Communicating is a complex process.
The process of transmission or delivery of the wrong message cause the communication will not
run effectively. In Tweebi's learning, communicating partis the most important part because in
this process bringing the product in the form of information they get from peroses of
information gathering this activity will give birth to smart and creative ideas, critical to the
existing information and cultivate and encourage them to take the role openly and meaningfully.
According Dewamegantara (2012), Tweebi applications in learning can be pursued through
the following ways:
1
Video source is Planet Green TV https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xc6LvdsyJ4U
1) Twitter as a medium to discuss and comment on each other in the discussion forum.
The teacher can give a discussion question at the beginning or reflection at the end of the
lesson. Next is to ask students to provide comments, questions, over links related to the topic of
discussion using Twitter. The trick is to type in the status update box, as long as 140 characters
starting with hashtag (sign #). For example, students write discussion comments with hastag
#ClimateChange format at the beginning or end of response or comment.
In this way, students are expected to experience a fun new experience in the discussion. When
tweeting, students discover core lessons that are not more than 140 characters long (minus the
number of hashtag characters). In fact, it should create a new phrase that describes the lessons
learned. Although only 140 characters, but making a tweet is not easy. It takes creativity to make
an enticing tweet. Therefore, tweets do not merely memorize lessons. Tweet is a challenge to
create lessons. The process of tweeting itself is an attempt to create a building of understanding.
The brain is not passive, it is actively discovery and creation. This active brain is a sign of the real
learning. With more and more tweets, the more learning, the more creative and inspiring the
sentences are.
2) Twitter as a medium for practice to answer questions.
Teachers can also create short questions that can stimulate students to learn and use Twitter in
a positive direction. Design questions to be given as attractive as possible, varied and not too
difficult. So that students can be challenged to answer all the questions. If students can answer
questions brilliantly or with great precision, congratulate or praise as this will create a sense of
pride and desire to answer all the questions given.
3) Twitter as a medium to provide information.
Create a series of tweets about material information and scientific information. Include reliable
sources that can be held accountable for the credibility of the teacher.
4) The Advantages and Disadvantages of learning using Tweebi:
The advantages of using Tweebi are (1) More Interesting students, (2) More Effective and
Efficient, More Practical, (3) Materials are more absorbed students because it involves
experience (Musfiqon, 2012), (4) Wider information from various sources, (5) Improved access
to lifelong learning, (6) Improve quality Learning, (7) Quickly adopting new information in real
time timeline, (8) Learning process can be done anytime and anywhere (Daryanto, 2013), (9)
Navigation. With twitter students can move easily in and between documents, (10) Exchange
Ideas. Students can participate in "conversations" with experts on special topics, (11) close
communication. Twitter allows students to hone the ability to communicate written in Bahasa
Indoneasia as well as foreign languages, especially English (Sanjaya, 2014).
Here are some of the disadvanteges of Tweebi (1) Cost is more expensive, because it requires
gadget and internet quota if wifi is not available, (2) Distribution of inappropriate information.
There are 10 million porn content on social media twitter, (3) Copyright becomes very vulnerable
because the information is so easily accessed and downloaded files quickly. Students can create
papers or projects by violating a person's copyright, (4) Uneven access speed across the country,
(5) Lack of quality control, students should be critical thinkers and readers who determine the
quality of resources obtained from twitter (Sanjaya, 2014).
