1. The following table gives quality rating of service stations by four professional raters :

Analyse the data and discuss whether there is any significant difference between ratings or between
service stations.

2. Two random samples taken from two normal populations are as follows. Test whether the two
population variances are equal or not at 5% level of significance and also find the confidence interval
for variance.

Sample I 20, 16, 26, 27, 23, 22 , 18, 24 , 25, 19

Sample II 17, 23, 32, 25, 22, 24, 28, 18, 31, 33

3. The life expectancy of people in the year 1970 in Brazil is expected to be 50 years. A survey was
conducted in eleven regions of Brazil and the data obtained are given below. Do the data confirm the
expected view at the 5% level of significance? Also find the 95% confidence interval for the expected
life.
