Summary of the outbound destination data throughout the las four years:

Position 2015 2016 2017 2018

1st Peru Peru Peru Argentina
2nd Argentina Argentina Argentina Peru
3rd USA USA USA USA
4th Brazil Brazil Brazil Brazil
5th Bolivia Colombia Mexico Mexico

Considering all the given information, which we collected from official sources1, we got to
the conclusion that Chilean outbound tourism in the American continent mainly focuses in
border two of three bordering countries; Perú and Argentina, and Bolivia does not come
close, maybe due to historical disputes, exaggerated and misunderstood nationalism, and to
political differences and disagreements.

The change we noticed in the top destination for Chilean outbound tourism inside of
America, going from Peru to Argentina, may be better understood taking into consideration
the difficult time Argentina is going through, in terms of economic development. The
Argentinian stocks market is suffering its worst fall in the last 20 years, which makes more
profitable to visit this country, because the devaluation of the Argentine peso is much more
convenient right now than the Peruvian sol, so it makes sense that Chilean travelers prefer
this destination, which used to be much more expensive. Argentinians used to come here
when their economy was good, but now the tables have turned, and Chilean travelers are
making the most out of it.

So, two of our neighboring countries are the top two. USA keeps in 3rd place throughout this
four-year span, and Brazil stays in the 4th position.

The 5th position goes from Bolivia to Colombia in the first two years, and then is
monopolized by Mexico in the last two years.

And that is the analysis we can extract from the data previously collected.
