From 1975-1981, the amount of road accidents decreased from 8,250 in 1975 to 6,550 in 1978 and

then made a significant increase in 1981 where 14,550 road accidents took place. There were 6,500

vehicles present on the road in 1975 and as a result there was an increase in the number of persons

killed and injured. However, the number of vehicles on the road made an increase of 3,500 more

vehicles in 1978 but deaths and injuries decreased. In 1981, the number of vehicles on the road

increased and deaths and injuries also increased. Over the period, a total of 33,050 vehicles were on

the road and 29,350 road accidents took place of which include 12,300 deaths and 17,050 injuries.
