Date: February 2, 2022

ACTING SECRETARY ROGER G. MERCADO

Department of Public Works and Highways
Bonifacio Drive, Port Area, Manila

THRU: REGIONAL DIRECTOR POL M. DELOS SANTOS

Department of Public Works and Highways-Region XIII
J. Rosales Avenue, Butuan City

Dear Acting Secretary Mercado:

This pertains to the letter addressed to the Hon. Mayor Jane V. Plaza from the
National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council dated January 18, 2022
informing her office on the none inclusion of the NDRRMC endorsed to the President for
the funding support on Repair/Reconstruction of Municipal Hall of Carmen, Surigao del
Sur and Esperanza Integrated School which incurred damages due to 5.5 Magnitude
Earthquake last July 2019 amounting to seventeen million nine hundred forty-three
thousand two hundred eighty pesos (PhP 17,943,280.0)

Unfortunately, the said project implementations did not materialized because of

the insufficient balance of FY 2021 incurred from the unprecedented COVID-19 global
pandemic in 2020 in the country as per Department of Budget and Management
memorandum, and the same funding supports were returned to the proponent
agencies.

In view of this, the municipal government thru the MDRRM Council is requesting
to your good office for the inclusion of aforementioned vital rehabilitation and recovery
projects in accordance with the Build Back Better principle in the FY 2022 and/ or FY
2023 regular budget proposals so that we can be assured the uncompromised safety of
the students and clientele.

The people of Carmen will be eternally grateful for the positive consideration
upon this funding supports that we might benefitted.

Attached herewith are the copies of correspondence of the development/status

regarding this funding support over the year.

Respectfully yours,

JANE V. PLAZA
Municipal Mayor/
Chairperson
