1.

As a future nurse, cite 5 characteristics that you should have to show a positive image as
professional nurse. Explain. ( 5 )

Respectful - Respect isn't one of the first things that comes to mind when thinking about
what makes a good nurse, but it's crucial for more reasons than one. Of course, being
respectful to patients is a professional courtesy that must be extended to all, regardless of
their attitude or behavior. The world is full of diverse and sometimes challenging
personalities, and once people enter the healthcare system, even the kindest souls become
extremely vulnerable. They are asked to entrust their well-being to providers they may not
know, and the lack of a personal relationship can cause them to lash out based on nothing
more than fear. Respect, according to nurses, is the boundary that defines and sustains a
therapeutic relationship. They’re asked to put their well-being in the hands of providers they
may not know, and the lack of a personal relationship can lead them to lash out based on
nothing more than fear. For nurses, respect is the boundary that defines a therapeutic
relationship and makes it possible to take care of every patient.

Assertive - As a health care provider, nurses must be able to express themselves, thoughts
and feelings, and insist on their observance. It's a straightforward, honest way of
communicating that allows a person to advocate for his or her own needs without being
aggressive or infringing on the rights of others.

Reliable - is a quality that nurses should possess. Having this characteristic simply means
that a nurse consistently does what is expected of her and does it well. It's a simple concept,
but for nurses struggling to balance the needs of patients, employers, coworkers, and those to
whom they are accountable outside of work, it's easier said than done.

Compassionate – Compassion begins with empathy, and it is more than an understanding of

another person's suffering; it is the willingness to act on it. Compassion, as the groundwork
of nursing, makes all the difference in the lives of those in need. Patients use words like kind,
gentle, and caring to describe compassionate nurses, but most associate compassion with
doing the little things they don't expect a nurse to do as part of providing medical care. It is
what teachers refer to as the need for nursing students to holistically address each person's
unique physical, emotional, and social needs as an individual, rather than as a collection of
symptoms.

Empathy – A nurse should have empathy, or the ability to understand what another person is
going through from their perspective. A patient who rings for help and then watches
helplessly from their hospital bed as nurses walk by the door repeatedly misses the dozens of
others the nurse is attempting to help. They only see people who do not appear to be
concerned about their needs. However, if a nurse takes a moment to assure a patient that
assistance is on the way, it changes their entire healthcare experience and builds invaluable
trust in the client.

2. List 10 behaviors of nurse leaders, then rank them from least to most important. What
rationale(s) did you use in ranking them? ( 5)

10 Behaviors of A Nurse Manager Ranked from Least To Most Important

10. Dedicated towards excellence

Excellence is a goal in any field, however too much dedication can make the
workplace toxic, which is why I rank this the least important.

9. Communicates well with his/her staff.

Communication is essential towards effective workflow. Knowing how to

communicate well with staff can slightly lighten the load of staff by lessening
communication-based mistakes.

8. Works well even under pressure.

Nurse managers serves as models for the staff, if nurse managers crack under
pressure, mistakes can occur and staff morale can drop, which will result to the decline of
healthcare quality.

7. Boosts staff morale especially on toxic days.

Fatigue can accumulate faster on toxic days, knowing how to boost staff morale
can slow the accumulation of fatigue.
6. Knows how to mediate between workplace skirmishes.

Workplace drama is existent to almost every work environment, and knowing

how to navigate between these skirmishes is an essential behavior to nurse managers.

5. Follows his/her morale compass.

Honesty and Integrity is essential to every leader and nurse managers are no
exception. Nurse managers needs to remain unfazed in the face of whatever challenge or
temptation there may be.

4. Emotionally Intelligent.

EQ is just as important as IQ, as a nurse manager, rational judgement is always

necessary, as one emotionally influenced decision can be fatal.

3. Talking to the staff about their mistake in a calm manner instead of scolding them
unprofessionally.

Doing this can help staff, especially new nurses, to learn from their mistakes
better as knowledge is better instilled compared to when they are scolded as if they’re not
professionals.

2. Acknowledges the staffs’ effort and good work.

Acknowledging the staffs’ effort and good work will boost staff morale and
motivation resulting to an improved performance at work

1. Mentors his/her staff.

Not only does respect towards the nurse manager naturally accumulate, but
healthcare quality will also improve. As the nurse manager mentors his/her staff, the
quality of healthcare being delivered will improve which will help the nurse become a
better healthcare professional making this the most important behavior of a nurse
manager.

3. What is the New Normal for health campaign of the DOH all about? Explain its
objectives and goals. (10)
In simple terms, the DOH's health campaign on "the new normal" addresses recent changes
in our lifestyle, such as emerging behaviors, situations, and public health standards as a result
of the sudden outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic. The goals of this campaign are to
increase both physical and mental resilience, to stop virus transmission, to reduce contact
rate, and, finally, to shorten the duration of infectiousness. All of these objectives aim to
improve our population's mental and physical well-being while also minimizing the effects of
further infection spread caused by the sudden outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.

4. If you were the Health Secretary of the Philippines, how will you manage the medical
response to Covid-19 pandemic? (10)
If I were the Philippines' Health Secretary, I would manage the medical response to the
current pandemic by organizing numerous campaigns and programs to educate the public
about the virus, the importance of vaccination, how we can work together to combat the
illness as well as the pandemic, and finally, how we can keep the people in our community
safe through our actions. These actions would be taken to inform the public that each
individual has an impact on the spread of the virus and to emphasize that eradicating this
pandemic requires cooperation and communication. While these programs are in place, I
would also suggest an emergency response project to my team for free vaccinations to the
masses, and to also purchase and distribute mechanical ventilators, infusion pumps,
ambulances, as well as other medical supplies needed for those already infected with the
virus.

5. Given the ever-changing covid situation, what is your opinion regarding the way the
government handled the crisis? What would you have changed, if any? (10)
Given the financial setbacks that this country may face, I believe that the government is
doing everything possible to address the current crisis. They carry out programs such as
providing free vaccination, educating the public about the pandemic and the infection we are
dealing with, providing rations at the start of the pandemic, and imposing restrictions in
public places. However, I accept as true with that they need to have taken movement quicker
whilst information of the virus changed into simply starting to spread. I accept as true with
doing this will have significantly impacted the harm precipitated because the populace could
have taken this contamination extra seriously. If the authorities had dealt with this reaction
earlier, we maximum possibly wouldn`t have such a lot of inflamed humans in our
populations, and could probable have fewer restrictions.
