Graduated May 2005
B.S., Mechanical Engineering
EXPERIENCE
HORIZON SOLUTIONS, Rochester, New York September 2008 to April 20
09
Industrial Sales Engineer
Sales Engineer in Industrial Supply Department. Used knowledge of cutting tools
and manufacturing processes to assist customers in metalworking applications. Ge
nerated customer-specific quotes, and tracked sales statistics.
TRUMPF, INC., Farmington, Connecticut April 2007 to September 20

Mechanical Project/Design Engineer - Laser Development Department
Project Engineer and Mechanical Designer in Research & Development department fo
r high powered CO2 coaxial lasers used for Manufacturing and Material Processing
. Objective was to design, test and implement prototypes to optimize product per
formance with regard to overall cost and reliability.
* Project team leader for Mechanical designs involved in a low cost initiative
to reduce overall net costs by 30%. Led cross-functional team to investigate cu
rrent Bill of Material costs with respect to design and function. Created projec
t plans with milestone dates and allotted budgets to ensure team efforts were al
igned and within scope of the project definition. Documented all discussions and
reviews with a Meeting Minutes Report to track current progress as well as to d
esignate action items. Low cost initiative successfully met 30% cost reduction g
oal and pre-serial production began in mid 2008.
* Interfaced with customers and field engineers to understand product deficienc
ies. Executed continuous improvement projects to address these issues. Projects
involved product failure analysis, component design and review, material/compone
nt procurement, life testing, and result presentations. Created and managed CAD
assemblies, drawings, and data files with SolidWorks and SAP R/3. Proficient in
Microsoft Office for data collection and material presentations.
* Lead design engineer for laser telescope assembly. Analyzed optic diameter, m
aterial, coatings, and ROC to determine optimal system performance. Designed opt
o-mechanical assemblies, including test fixtures, to ensure repeatability and pr
ecision in all required adjustment degrees of freedom. Created manufacturing pri
nts and ensured all machined components met specifications.
ITT INDUSTRIES, Rochester, New York June 2005 to April 2007
Mechanical Design Engineer - Space Systems Division
Lead Mechanical Engineer for mechanism subassemblies on NASA/NOAA's GOES Advance
d Baseline Imager (ABI) program. Created mechanical designs to secure and rotate
a series of optics needed for instrument calibration. Wrote Test Plans, as well
as Manufacturing and Assembly Manuals to ensure designs and processes met compa
ny and customer compliance. Interfaced with program managers, design and manufac
turing engineers, and customers on a daily basis to ensure current designs were
on track to meet milestone deadlines, and customer specifications were satisfied
. Executed several formal design reviews to ensure designs did not exceed projec
t budget and schedule constraints.
I received a Government sponsored Security Clearance during this assignment.
