utmost caution.
1. Alarm messages
If no alarm is present and the power supply is switched off, the status message Laser
Standby should be present.
It is not possible to switch on main power supply if the status Laser Standby is not
present.
• Check if the E-Stop button on the Laser, the beamswitch cabinet or the fiber-
fiber coupler cabinet are not pushed (see E-Stop button) and check external E-
Stop (see E-Stop external). If one of the buttons is pushed please release and
try to switch on power supply again.
• Check status of interlock circuit. If the interlock circuit is not closed the yellow
interlock lamp on the front side of the laser will not be enlightened.
• Push the interlock lamp to check the lamp
• Door interlocks: Front and backdoors of the laser, doors of the beamswitch or
fiber-fiber coupler cabinet.
• Optical interlock. The alarm message optical interlock fiber connector will be
activated in LaserNet/Alarms page.
• Leakage sensors. In a case of a water leakage inside the laser the leakage
sensors will open the interlock loop and the alarm message Water in laser will
be set active.
• External Interlock / E-Stop: Check status of two channel external E-Stop.
Channel 1 is XP2 safety interface C1 – C4, Channel 2 is XP2 C2 – C3. It is
possible to use bridges to close this connections.
WARNING: External safety system will be out of operation.
Therefore please make sure that laser emission cannot be switched on by
incident. This can easily be done by switching off the chiller. In this case it is not
possible to receive Laser Ready signal. Unplug XP2 connector. Use bridges to
close connections C1 – C4 and C2 – C3.
1.1. E-Stop
If only the alarm message E-Stop is present, one or more cabinet doors of the laser
are opened (see Status message Frontdoor/Reardoor opened). Laser operation will be
stopped, the power supply will be switched off and the yellow interlock lamp on the
front side of the laser will be off.
Check list:
• Close the cabinet door of the laser.
Check list:
• Check status of the E-Stop buttons. If one of the buttons is pushed please
release and check the alarm messages in LaserNet. If no further alarm is
present and the status message Laser standby is on you can try to switch on
power supply.
Check list:
• Check if Laser fiber interlock is also present. In this case see Laser fiber
interlock.
• Check status of two channel external E-Stop. Channel 1 is XP2 safety interface
C1 – C4, Channel 2 is XP2 C2 – C3. It is possible to use bridges to close this
connections.

flow. If this value is closed to the threshold check water level of the chiller. Refill
water if necessary.
• Check for pressed tubes or water leakage inside laser cabinet. The water
connections can be checked by opening the backside of the laser.
• Check status of refrigerant circuit of the chiller after 5 minutes of chiller
operation. Inside the chiller this status can be monitored by checking refrigerant
window. The colour of the indicator should be green and the liquid without any
air bubbles. If there are air bubbles inside or the colour of the indicator is red
please inform your provider of the laser system to clarify next steps.
Important: Do not operate Water-Air Chiller with open walls while the laser
is emitting.
Check list:
• Check red guide laser beam after feeding fiber. For lasers with beamswitch it is
guide laser no. 0. The mirror for the beamswitch channel where the guide laser
beam is checked must be in ON position. A not present guide laser beam
indicates a damage inside the fiber. The same is valid if the guide laser beam
has no round shape in the focal plane. In this two cases please call your
provider and inform him about the possible damage.
• Push Reset button in LaserNet control page. If the alarm message is cleared
everything is fine.
• Check status of interlock clamps inside the optical head. Use hex. key to
tightened the interlock clamp screw carefully. Do not tighten the screw to the
final position. There is risk of damaging the interlock clamps
• As a last resort check the interlock resistance. Therefore unplug the fiber from
head. Close the head and the fiber with the corresponding caps. Measure
interlock resistance through the fiber. It should be more than 1kΩ and less than
1MΩ.
• Inform your provider about the failure to clarify situation and service time
schedule
Check list:
• Please check guide laser beam after optical head. Therefore switch on guide
laser (for beamswitches guide laser no.0, mirror from checked channel must be
in ON position). If the guide laser is present the laser and the fibers should be
optically fine.
