The text talks about the history of football and matches that made history mainly

because of wrong reasons. In 1914 during ww1 when pretty much all of europe was a
mass of
battlefields and trenches, during christmas the Scottish and German soldiers put
down their weapons, exchanged cigarettes, watches, rings and tins of meat, and played
a
game of unorthodox football where the goalposts were marked with caps. There have
been other matches that made history. After Uruguay beat Argentina in the first
world
cup, Argentines stoned the Uruguayan Consulate until the police began shooting at
them. Another exemple is the tragic death of 39 italian supportes in a riotat the
1985
european cup. Players unsportingly behaviour have made history too, when an italian
players nose was broken by a chilean player, when a french player lost 2 teeth
after a
collision with the west german gk. Also there have been accusations of cheating and
fixing games, like the 1994 game between usa and colombia when Andres escobar
scored
an own goal, it was said that colombian drug barons had bet a lot of money on
colombia losing.
