About the coronavirus situation

About the corona

situation
There are no entry restrictions to
Norway due to the corona situation now,
but there are strict requirements for
registration and testing when you travel
into Norway.

Extraordinary entry rules to

Norway have been lifted
The entry restrictions introduced due
to the corona situation have been
lifted. All foreigners who have the
right to entry according to the rules of
the Immigration Act can travel to
Norway now. You can travel to
Norway if you:

have a valid residence permit, or

you have a right of residence in
Norway
have a valid visitor´s visa or entry
visa to Norway
have the right to visit Norway
without a visa
are going to apply for protection
(asylum) in Norway

Requirements upon entry

You must register before you

enter Norway

Before you travel to Norway, you must register

in the entry registration system (external
website) if you are 16 years or older. You must
show confirmation of the registration if the
police ask you when you cross the border.

The requirement to register applies even if you

have a valid COVID-19 certificate.

If you cannot present confirmation of your

registration, you may be expelled at the
border.

You must have a negative COVID-

19 test and do a COVID-19 test
upon entry

The Government announced that everyone

who travels to Norway from midnight night to 3
December must do a COVID-19 test when
entering Norway. This also applies to you if
you have a valid COVID-19 certificate. We will
update the information below by 10:00 on
Friday 3 December.

There are different rules based on whether you

have a valid COVID-19 certificate or not.

I have a valid COVID-19 certificate

If you have a valid COVID-19 certificate, you
must present the COVID-19 certificate at the
border, in addition to the confirmation that you
are registered.

Please note that if you travel from one of the

countries in the list below, you must show a
negative COVID-19 test and do a COVID-19
test on arrival (like for those who do not have a
valid corona certificate), even if you have a
valid COVID-19 certificate. This applies to the
following countries: Botswana, Eswatini,
Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia,
South Africa and Zimbabwe. If you cannot
present a certificate of a negative test, or do
not do a COVID-19 test on arrival, you may be
expelled from Norway.

Not all COVID-19 certificates are approved in

Norway. You are responsible for checking
whether your COVID-19 certificate is valid in
Norway (external website). Helsenorge can
answer questions about COVID-19
certificates.

I do not have a valid COVID-19

certificate
If you are over 18 and do not have a valid
COVID-19 certificate:

You must present a certificate of a

negative COVID-19 test taken during the
last 24 hours before arrival in Norway.

Approved test methods are PCR or

antigen rapid tests. If you arrive by plane,
the test may have been taken within the
last 24 hours before the scheduled
departure time of the first part of the
flight. The flight can be a direct flight to
Norway or a continuous flight to Norway
with stopovers in transit zones at other
airports.

The COVID-19 certificate must be in

Norwegian, Swedish, Danish, English,
French or German.

You must also do a COVID-19 test when

you enter Norway. The requirement
applies regardless of where you depart
from. You can test yourself at a test
station at the border or within 24 hours if
there is no test station at the border.

If you cannot present a certificate of a negative

test, or do not do a COVID-19 test on arrival,
you may be expelled from Norway.

You must follow the quarantine

rules

You must follow the rules that apply to the

quarantine after entry to Norway. You will find
information about the quarantine rules for
entering Norway at helsenorge.no (external
website).

Please note that the Government has

introduced measures to limit the spread of new
virus variants to Norway, including
requirements for quarantine and quarantine
hotels for travellers from some countries. UDI
cannot answer questions about quarantine
and quarantine hotels.

If the requirements for quarantine and

quarantine hotel apply to you, and you do not
follow the requirement, you may be expelled
from Norway.
